Last we left off in LOTR: The Rings of Power, the Harfoots’ migrated with the Stranger in tow. The Stranger helped them fight off wargs and scared Nori with his icy healing powers. Meanwhile, in Lindon, Durin and Elrond discussed the idea of sharing Mithril between the Dwarves and Elves. Finally, the humans in both the Southlands and Numenor prepared for war. LOTR: Rings of Power Episode Six Recap

Sundering Sea

In the Sundering Sea, the Númenoreans’ set sail for Middle-earth. Isildur and Galadriel had a lovely chat as they approached the land. Unfortunately, Elendil eventually joined the conversation, and things became tense. Galadriel asked about Isildur’s mother and was told she drowned.

Southlands

Panning back to the Southlands, we see Adar delivering an inspiring speech to his army of Orcs. They geared up to fight the townspeople in Ostirith. Fortunately for the humans, the Orcs find this encampment empty. As the Orcs, Adar, and Waldreg searched the stronghold, Arondir collapsed the tower overhead after firing some arrows.

It turns out that the Southlanders’ have returned to their village and are ready to defend their home. Arondir attempted to destroy the sword’s hilt but was unsuccessful. Bronwyn and Theo also had a tender mother-son moment. This, in turn, leads to Bronwyn and Arondir sharing their loving moment.

As the Orcs descended upon the town, the Southlanders defended their lands. They slay Orc after Orc and, after the battle has concluded, begin to feel relieved. However, after further examination of the bodies, Arondir discovered they did not only kill Orcs. Many of the slain were townsfolk that sided with Adar. During this discovery, the real Orcs attacked, and Bronwyn was shot with an arrow.

The Southlanders’ attempted to barricade themselves in the tavern but to no avail. Theo eventually must reveal the sword’s location. Just as it seems all hope is lost, there is a rumbling in the distance. The Númenoreans’ have arrived! However, all hope is not lost as the actual Orcs are slain, and Adar is captured.

Galadriel interrogated Adar after the bloody battle. It is revealed that he was the original Orc. Morgoth corrupted Elves to make a mockery of their race. Additionally, Adar claimed to have killed Sauron. After a bit of back and forth, Galadriel leaves. She then gives a burlap sack, supposedly holding the sword hilt, to Arondir.

Arondir took the package and brought it to Theo. After Arondir explains that Theo should throw it into the sea, he leaves the boy to his thoughts. Theo quickly opened the sack to reveal an axe rather than the mystic sword. Waldreg has the blade and uses it to open a stone lock. Something evil is afoot!

Meanwhile, Elendil and Isildur have a father-son bonding moment outside the town. As the conversation comes to an end, the pair hear rumbling. Water began erupting through the tunnels Adar had dug. In the distance, the volcano erupted, and balls of lava came hurling out of the sky. Finally, we see Adar escape and Galadriel facing down the cloud of smoke.
