Cast and crew of the show Mr. Mercedes were once again in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con this year. This year the panel consisted of Producer Jack Bender and cast members which included returning stars, Justine Lupe and Breeda Wool, and some new faces, Jack Huston, Nancy Travis, and Maximiliano Hernandez.

The second season of the show will not follow in line with the next book in the series, Finders Keepers, but instead go on to the third book, End of Watch. Jack Bender said the decision to do this was because “our heroes didn’t come into it until halfway through the book.” So, because this season will follow closer to the last book of the series, be prepared for things to get a bit stranger than the first season.

Nancy Travis will be playing Donna, Hodges ex-wife. A character that didn’t play a part in the books, I am excited to see what kind of presence that she brings to the show. Travis described her impact with Bill as “She’s a sounding board for Bill and presents an alternative that’s not Hartsfield.”

One of the characters I am most excited to see this next season is Holly Gibney played by Justine Lupe. Last we saw Holly she had just bashed Brady’s head, forcing him into a vegetative state. This season Holly is blossoming into her own. Lupe says “She’s kind of running the show with Bill in the second season … she’s really utilizing her skill set in this new position.”

The official season 2 synopsis is as follows:

A year after his thwarted attempt to perpetrate a mass murder, Brady Hartsfield remains in a vegetative state and retired Detective Bill Hodges has opened Finders Keepers. When unexplainable occurrences begin, Hodges has a feeling that Brady is somehow responsible.

The second season of Mr. Mercedes will premiere on August 22nd only on Audience Channel. I am certainly very excited to see what lays in store for us all.
