The fourth installment of the Expendables franchise is finally here. But will it live up to the hype of its predecessors?
Setup
After ten years, we finally see Stallone’s final outing as Barney Ross. And no doubt director (and former stuntman) Scott Waugh will have us reeling in this action-packed thriller. Like the three previous installments, this one is also based on Spenser Cohen’s original story. We can surely expect a lot of bullets and fists flying, sprinkled in among explosions, Dolph Lundgren’s one-liners, and knife-wielding (for Statham’s sake).
Old blood meets new blood as Veteran Mercenary Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his band of misfits return to, once again, take care of business. Along with Stallone, reprise roles include Jason Statham as Lee Christmas, Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen, and Randy Couture as Toll Road. New to the Expendables team include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Andy Garcia, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran.

The Story
If you’ve seen any of the previous films, you can already guess the story: there’s a very, very, very bad man with a massive force and even more powerful weapons, and the Expendables are the only ones who can stop him.
Based on the official trailer, it looks like Statham’s character, Lee Christmas, could be the story’s primary hero and focal point. Stallone’s last ride as Barney Ross could get him killed. Although, he might pass on the leadership of the team to Christmas. You’ll have to watch to find out. There are a lot of possible outcomes, but it is sure to provide one last high-intensity showdown for Ross.
