The convention formally known as Silicon Valley Comic-Con in San Jose, California will make its return as SiliCon this weekend, August 28th & 29th. The event will be held as usual at the San Jose Convention Center. SiliCon was taken over last year by Mythbusters legend, Adam Savage just before the pandemic broke. With the pandemic in full swing, the convention was cancelled. This year they are offering a smaller, safer convention for those who are itching to get back on the convention floor or meet their favorite celebrities. You can still purchase your tickets here for the weekend.

Please note masks will be required for all attendees including those wearing cosplay masks. You will be required to take off your cosplay and show that you are wearing a mask under it. No Mask, No Entrance, No Exceptions. Children are welcome to attend the event, but remember any child over the age of 2 MUST wear a mask per county guidelines.

Adam Savage is known for his love of cosplay and his cosplay creations. We are expecting to see some great cosplays at this convention. Unfortunately, Team CarRamRod will not be out this weekend patrolling the Con. These cosplays are a lot of work and do cost some money to create. They also are quite heavy to wear so we are going to sit out this convention in regards to cosplay. Regardless we will still be out to enjoy the convention, check out the panels, buy some great stuff, and see some friends. Here is the current guest list for the convention:

  • Lana Parrilla from Once Upon A Time, LOST, and Spin City will have two seperate panels. One being a special VIP panel that requires an additional ticket.
  • Appearing Sunday only is William Shatner from Star Trek and Boston Legal.
  • Lous Ferrigno – The Incredible Hulk, Hercules, and I Love You Man
  • Bruce Boxleitner – Babylon 5, Scarecrow, and Mrs. King
  • Davi Santos – Power Rangers: Dino Charge
  • David Ankrum – Star Wars & Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • Denise Crosby – Star Trek: Next Generation & Pet Sematary
  • Dickery Beer – Return of The Jedi
  • Dirk Benedict – Battlestar Galactica & The A Team
  • Mark Sheppard – Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who
  • Jake “The Snake” – WWE/WWF Star
  • John Morton – Star Wars
  • Julius Lefore – Star Trek: Insurrection & Return of the Jedi
  • Kenn Scott – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie & Showdown
  • Best Selling Author Andy Weir will be in attendance as well. He has written such amazing books as The Martian and Artemis

There are so many talented artists, authors, and makers that will be in attendance as well. NASA is a huge sponsor for this event since the convention is technology based. There will be multiple space and astronaut experts available for panels through out the weekend. Charles Martinet, Claire Blackwelder, and Javicia Leslie were all scheduled to attend the convention but have since cancelled. While this event is not as big as we are used to due to the panedemic we do believe that it will be a good time regardless. Come join the fun this weekend!
