The last episode of the second block of episodes was fast and furious, closing a lot of stories while setting up a lot more for the last eight episodes EVER. Hornsby is flipping a coin and asking his troops what side of the coin they pick. He is putting them into different groups but won’t tell them what the assignments are. Elsewhere, Daryl, Gabriel, and Aaron are on alert, and they are looking for an opportunity to break free. In Commonwealth outpost number two, it is taken over by walkers, and one of the walkers bites a soldier. Daryl hears that they have one more to do and then to head home. Hornsby gives out his orders, some soldiers dress in all black and head out with Leah to hunt Maggie. Hornsby tells Leah he wants to see proof that Maggie is dead when it happens.

Elsewhere, Maggie, Elijah, Hershel, and another head off somewhere to drop off Hershel so he can be safe. They meet up with Lydia, who has kept Negan and his people safe in an old Whisperer’s hiding hole. Annie and Negan promise to stay and keep Hershel and the rest of the people safe while Maggie goes to do what she needs to do. Meanwhile, at the Commonwealth, Max and Eugene talk in the morning about what will happen after they expose to the community what has been going on. It obviously scares them a bit.

Daryl hears the Commonwealth leader talking to Hornsby on the walkie to finish it and head back home. Daryl doesn’t trust it, so he says he will take point. They are led to what looks like a wrecking yard, and the soldiers stay on the outside while Daryl, Gabriel, and Aaron are in the middle. Daryl nods at Aaron and takes the first shot, and hits one of the soldiers, while Gabriel and Aaron, who are without weapons, hide. Eventually, Daryl can bash a soldier, take his gun, and pass it to Aaron. Then a little later, Gabriel sneaks up on someone, stabs a knife in his leg, and takes his gun. Some walkers come around, and Aaron and Gabriel shoot some of them. Then we get a flash-forward that the soldiers have died minus the leader. Daryl asks him where Hornsby is or if the approaching walkers will get him. He eventually says that they are probably ten miles out, and his orders were to clear the playing field. They know that means all of them and the Hilltop. Daryl kills the man, and Hornsby happened to be checking in on how the assignment went. Daryl answered and said, “he isn’t here anymore.”

Back at the Commonwealth, Max tells Milton that looking through some documents, and they uncovered an extra $50k. Max suggests that they make a scholarship program for the less fortunate, but Milton wants the funds to go back into the party because it’s the biggest event of the year. Obviously, this upsets Max, but she tells Milton she needs to go to an event. Max uses the time to steal some documents before Milton’s son almost catches her. At night, we are unsure if it’s that night or another night, Eugene, Max, the sisters, and Magna are meeting, and Ezekiel joins them after being asked by Magna to pass out all of the papers with his network. Finally, the group agreed to release the findings.

With Leah’s hunt for Maggie, she and her makeshift crew make it to the Hilltop. They repel inside at the top and work their way to the bottom. But it was triggered with explosives killing most if not all of the Commonwealth soldiers. Maggie wanted to follow the tracks back to their camp, but they didn’t expect Leah to be involved, and she shot one of Maggie’s group. Maggie, Lydia, and Elijah flee, then they split up, with Maggie going solo. Leah is quickly able to track down and capture Maggie. She takes her back to her cabin, ties her up to a chair, and they start talking, Leah wants to kill Maggie for killing her family, but Maggie wants to kill Leah and her family because they did that to Maggie’s. Maggie is able to stall enough to fight back, but Leah gets the upper hand, and Daryl, who earlier found Leah’s camp and found something he recognized of hers, arrived in time and shot Leah dead. Outside, Hornsby and soldiers are fast approaching. Daryl pops off a couple of shots, including one that grazes Hornby’s face before they escape. Hornsby and the soldiers get into the cabin and see Maggie and Daryl escape out the window.
