The annual geek convention party of Atlanta is here! Lots of people around the world (!) look forward to this event every year, and 2019 won’t be any exception. From local events, to seeing your favorite celebrities, to showing off Cosplay–there’s plenty to do at Dragon Con.
One of their big annual traditions is the Dragon Con Parade that takes place right in the center of Atlanta, which not only shows incredible cosplayers, but is also the purest expression of the beating heart at the center of the event. Later the night you can also check out Dragon Con’s Night At The Aquarium. A truly unique event where the masses of the convention get to take over the Georgia Aquarium for the night. You can check out all of the events that the show has to offer here.
Not feeling their outside events and/or want more to do? Well there are whole areas devoted to video, board, and/or tabletop gaming. Dragon Con also has quite the impressive show floor, with plenty of booths providing tons of cool things–including lots of artists and creatives showing off their work. Even with all of that, there is more: the big name guests of course! One of the main draws of cons around the world is getting to meet those big time celebrities. The big question is, who can you expect to see at Dragon Con this year?
In terms of more recent projects, Amazon’s new show The Boys is represented well thanks to the appearance of Karl Urban and Jack Quaid. Upcoming show The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance has attending voice talents in Dave Chapman, Peter Brooke, and Alice Dinnean. One of the bigger guests this year is Zachary Levi–who is joined by Shazam co-stars Cooper Andrews and Asher Angel.
CW’s slate of represented shows is as big as you’d expect. Guests from all over the Arrowverse include Paul Blackthorne, Nick Zanos, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan, Tala Ashe, Chad Coleman, David Ramsey, and Colton Haynes. This doesn’t include nearly the entire cast of Black Lightning: Christine Adams, Nafessa Williams, James Remar, Cress Williams, and Jordan Calloway. Supernatural brings along cast members such as Sebastian Roche, Kim Rhodes, Ty Olsson, DJ Qualls, Mark Sheppard, Mark Pellegrino, Samantha Smith, Osric Chau, Ruth Connell. Recently finished iZombie brings Rose Mciver, Rahul Kohli, Aly Michalka, David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin and AJ Michalka.
SyFy has a lot to bring to the table this year. The Magicians brings Hale Appleman, Olivia Dudley, and Harvey Guillen. Their hit Wynonna Earp has guests such as Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell, Michael Eklund, and Tamara Duarte. SyFy’s former child in The Expanse has Wes Chatham, Francois Chau, and Steven Strait visiting the convention.
While not a part of SyFy, there are plenty of other Sci-Fi shows in attendance. Fox’s The Orville lands with crew members Mark Jackson, Peter Macon, Chad Coleman, and J. Lee. Star Trek: Discovery beams down Ethan Peck, Emily Coutts, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo, and Anson Mount. Doctor Who, ausual staple of any convention, will once again be here this year. David Tennant will be making an appearance, along with Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate.
Voltron brings voice acting talent in Kimberly Brooks, Josh Keaton, and A. J. Locascio. Farscape alumnis Rebecca Riggs, Anthony Simcoe, Lani Tupu, Rockne O’ Bannon, Ben Browder, and Brian Henson. YouTube Red‘s Kobra Kai has karate masters such as Martin Kove, Ralph Macchio, and William Zabka. From the shadows comes a good number of cast Gotham, including Maggie Geha, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, David Mazouz, and Donal Logue. Once Upon A Time brings to life fairytales with Karen David, Lana Parrilla, Rebecca Mader, and Jared Gilmore.
Surprisingly missing from this years show? Anyone from the MCU–any of the shows or films. Seemingly the only Marvel presence we have are Jamie Chung and Emma Dumont from The Gifted. I would have also assumed that Stranger Things guests would have been a part of this years con–given the show is local to Atlanta. Currently only Cary Elwes and Shannon Purser are on the list of guests to represent the show.
Other assorted TV/Movie guests attending are Max Mittleman, Robbie Daymond, Ray Chase, Emily Andras, Barry Kitson, Amanda Miller, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, Barbara Bunkelman, Lindsay Jones, Cary Nord, Gene Ha, Robert Englund, Brian Herring, Dave Fennoy, Marc Singer, Jane Badler, Quinton Flynn, Aimee Garcia, DB Woodside, Allison Scagliotti, Eddie Mcclintock, Amanda Wyss, Ronee Blakley, Dan Fogler, Dustin Rhodes, Clint & Travis Mcelroy, Jason Marsden, William Shatner, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, David Blue, Aly & AJ.
We can’t forget about the artists and other literary guests either. Among the long list are names such as Ed Brisson, Jorge Molina, Brandon Sanderson, Roy Thomas, Greg Land, Jae Lee, Matthew Clark, Richard Case, Julie Dillon, Stephan Franck.
Dragon Con takes place in Atlanta GA, starting on Thursday August 29th and running until Monday September 2nd. You can grab your tickets here!
