It can’t be a new season of Once Upon A Time without a new curse to plague the Charming family now can it?
While Prince, Snow and Emma won’t be a part of the series anymore going into the seventh season, Emma’s now adult son Henry (Andrew J. West) will find himself in trouble requiring his adoptive mother Regina (Lana Parrilla), step-father Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and his grandfather Rumple (Robert Carlyle) to come to his rescue. However, as reported by EW, these fan favorite characters will find themselves under a new curse requiring Henry’s own daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez) to make them all remember and believe again. While this new curse may sound similar to the original Dark Curse that kick started the entire series back in the first season, there is a slight change to it all.
The first Curse moved the entire Enchanted Forest to Storybrooke, Maine and kept the characters all close together, which increased the likelihood of them remembering their past lives as fairy tale characters due to the close proximity to one another. This new Curse created by Cinderella’s (Dania Ramirez) wicked stepmother, Lady Tremaine (Gabrielle Anwar), leads for our heroes and the rest of the new Enchanted Forest to be stuck in the massive Hyperion Heights, Seattle — think Brooklyn, New York.
Here Lady Tremaine takes on a role of being a developer and driving characters apart with gentrification and bringing in non-fairy tale characters into the story. Yes, real world people sans magical powers will have a part to play this season! Hyperion Heights is supposed to be more densely populated and filled with both fairy tale and non-fairy tale characters, therefore making season seven slightly different then previous seasons due to the massive scale of the setting.
As for what our fan favorite characters may be in the real world. It seems that Hook will be a cop, while Regina may be a bartender compared to her former mayor self. As for what Rumple will be, is hard to tell. He is normally excluded from curses — thanks in part to being the Dark One. And for who cast the cursed, it may not be Lady Tremaine and instead it could be Henry himself!
