Hello Gothamites! We have already arrived at episode 9: The Trial of Jim Gordon.
We begin this episode with the supplies of the GCPD that are running low. In order to get more supplies, Gordon has an idea to bring all the gangs together. If they can work together, they can show the mainland that they do deserve to be reunited. Penguin has been kind enough to host the ‘party’ in his place. After Gordon has made his point, suddenly there is a shot and Gordon falls on the ground with a patch of blood on his shirt. The cops rush to get Gordon back to the GCPD so that Lee can look after him while Bullock starts a search for the person responsible.
After Lee has removed the bullet out of Gordon, he starts to dream. He dreams that he is being put for trial. The judge doesn’t want to listen to him and brings a prosecutor: himself. He starts blaming himself for all the things he did wrong in the past and has brought a witness to back up his story: Lee. The only question Lee has to answer is if she would be better off without him. She gives a bit of a vague answer, but Gordon is charged guilty after all the dead people from Haven show up.
Meanwhile, Bullock starts questioning both Penguin and Barbara about their part in the shooting. Both of them say that they have nothing to do with it and Penguin even points out that the shot came from outside, seeing that there is a hole in the window. When Bullock composes the part of the bullet that is stuck in the staircase with the parts removed from Gordon, he finds out that the bullet holds initials: VZ.
The subject, Victor Zsasz coincidentally decides that it is a good time to go to the GCPD to finish his job of killing Gordon. Some cops try to stop him, but it is Alfred who knocks him down and takes him in for Bullock to question him. It doesn’t take long for him to figure out that Zsasz is under a spell from Ivy Pepper and that he is madly in love with her. He even fantasises about Ms Ivy Pepper-Zsasz. When Bullock is busy figuring out where Ivy could be, she sneaks into the GCPD and frees Zsasz so he can keep the cops busy while she finishes the job of killing Gordon.
Zsasz does a very good job of keeping the cops busy, but Bullock has a plan. He puts on a bomb squat suit so he can withstand Zsasz’s bullets and can attack him. Meanwhile, Ivy has arrived at Gordon in the morgue right at the moment that his heart is failing. Ivy starts to fight with Lee before the latter takes Gordon’s gun and shoots Ivy in the stomach. In return, Ivy smashes Lee’s syringe with adrenaline which is needed to bring Gordon back. Gordon is still dreaming that he is about to die and that everyone is holding a wake for him. Then the little boy Will comes to take him away so he can die. Will leads him to an electric chair. Right before it is fired up, Lee appears with a baby. When Gordon tells her his doubts about him being able to be a good father, she drops the baby. Then Gordon decides that he wants to live and the shock of the electric chair brings him back to life
Somewhere else in Gotham, Bruce takes Selina to an abandoned house to have a scavenger hunt, but when they enter the living room, the table is set for a dinner for two and they have some kind of date where Bruce starts to blame himself for the many things Gotham has endured and that it might be for the best to leave Gotham. Ivy comes in just as he is saying this and she agrees to it. She uses her perfume to get him under her spell and takes him with her while she leaves Selina to deal with the creepy guy she beat up a couple of episodes ago. Which she beats just as easily this time. She follows Bruce to the plant where Fox is working to clean up the river. Bruce uses Ivy’s perfume on Fox to make him stop the plant and reverse the process. When they spot Selina walking in, Bruce starts to fight with her but a couple of punches in his face later and Ivy’s spell is worn off. Another kick to Fox his face and he is back to normal too. Luckily they are still able to reverse the process and save the river and the plant.
In the Sirens Club, Barbara has invited all the gang leaders in order to come to an agreement. Not all of them agree so she reveals that she has put poison in their drinks and that they will die if they don’t get the antidote within 48 hours. Because she is so nice she is willing to give the antidotes in return for their guns. One of the gang leaders is dead in an instance because he has had more drinks than the rest.
One month later, Gordon and Lee are getting married by Bullock in the GCPD where Bruce and Selina kiss, while Barbara secretly makes the decision to keep the child for herself.
