Thankfully, finally, after a year of basking in the limelight and generally living their best lives everyone’s favorite 2 Dope Queens are back on HBO with season two of their four-part comedy series. While their wildly popular podcast of the same name wrapped this year, Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson have been busy making books, movies, and success happen.
In season two’s first episode, “Fashion,” we learn about Williams’ and Robinson in a historical “look” sprint from back in the day forward. While Phoebe laments the curses of the small-breasted woman from the glory of an epic white jumpsuit, Jessica reveals something that makes many women with big breasts jealous of unendowed queens. Jess, who wears a baby doll style dress, says that a supermodel small top and deep V cleavage are a version of the curly – straight hair conflict, especially when she can’t wear a button-down shirt without the gap. We of the small breasts appreciate you, Jessica, and Phoebe for wearing deep V white sequins anything.
The first special guest of the season is Lupita Nyong’o, who is a vision in an amazing yellow pant and discusses the success of Black Panther, casual hangouts with Angela Bassett (Angie), and her advanced braiding skills. There’s a braiding competition between the women and a clear winner but I’ll let you decide who that is for yourself . . .
The first three comedians of the season bring a wide range of sass and fashion sense. Highlights of their sets include Janine Crito’s description of her exes as “demon[s] in skin suits” (relatable), Jamie Lee busting the myth of a woman’s dewy glow, and Solomon Georgio who is blessing us all by being aggressively gay this year in response to Trump’s America. Georgio wears a cape for his performance so when it comes to the catwalk he has the run of it.
Finally, Phoebe and Jessica reappear transformed from one fashion story to another so come, let us adore them and behold their wardrobe change below.
