For the third time already, the West End version of Cursed Child in the Palace theatre has gotten a new cast, started on May 23rd!
Somehow they made it a tradition that an actor named Jamie takes on the role of Harry. This year’s casting is no different with Jamie Ballard in the leading role. Next to Jamie, Susie Trayling takes on Ginny Potter and Joe Idris-Roberts plays Albus Potter to complete the Potter family.
The Granger-Weasley is made up of Nicola Alexis as Hermione Granger, Thomas Aldridge, stays on as Ron Weasley and Helen Aluko will be playing Rose Granger-Weasley.
Lastly, we have the Malfoy family with James Howard( are we sure it’s not secretly Jason Isaacs who plays the role?) as Draco Malfoy and Jonathan Case as Scorpius Malfoy.
The Broadway production (including seven members of the Original West End Cast) is currently nominated for 10 Tony Awards including Best New Play, Best Leading Actor in a Play (Jamie Parker), Best Featured Actor and Actress in a Play (Anthony Boyle and Noma Dumezwen) and Best Direction (John Tiffany). Other nominations went to Katrina Lindsay for Best Costume Design, Christine Jones for Best Scenic Design, Neil Austin for Best Lighting, Steven Hoggett for Best Choreography, and Gareth Fry for Best Sound Design. So fingers crossed that they actually take home some of those nominations!
The Cursed Child adventures will soon begin in Australia too, with the play set to open in Melbourne in 2019!
