At the annual CW upfront event on Thursday, Arrow star Stephen Amell dished out some new information on next season’s crossover between it’s arrow-verse shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow). Appearing on stage with CW President, Mark Pedowitz, Amell had this to say about next year’s crossover, “For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

Appearing in DC’s Detective Comics #233 (1956), Batwoman is Kate Kane, who like Batman, uses her families wealth to fight crime in Gotham City. In recent incarnations, Kate is a lesbian and is the girl-friend of Maggie Sawyer (Alex Danver’s former love interest on Supergirl).

Pedowitz also had this to say about the crossover event, “We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse,” and “This will be another full-throttled, action-packed event.” Recently on Arrow, Oliver Queen name-dropped Bruce Wayne while trying to dissuade the public that he was the Green Arrow. Also, on the first season of Legends of Tomorrow, Rip Hunter says “I’ve seen Men of Steel die and Dark Knights fall,” eluding to Batman and Superman existing in the universe.

While Batman is currently off-limits in the CW Universe, the addition of Batwoman and Gotham City should provide clues and perhaps a mystery of where exactly Batman is in this universe. Now that we know what the CW has planned I can scrap my idea (at-least for next season) of a crossover featuring Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman and the creation of the arrowverse Justice League (we can dream, right?)
