Whether you’re weary about the election results, burnt out over a year of non-stop election coverage or still trying to figure out what the Electoral College is, we at The Game of Nerds know that the past few weeks have been stressful. That’s why we decided to put together a list of ten things that will take your mind off of the race to the White House, and keep you entertained during the long, cold Winter! Check our or list after the break!

1) Gilmore Girls Returns!

Less than one month remains until Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts on Netflix. We can’t wait to be back in Stars Hollow with Rory and Lorelai! The show will drop the day after Thanksgiving, giving us all an excuse to park ourselves on the couch after turkey day!

2) The Release of The Hamilton Mixtape

You won’t be able to Say No to This! The loooooong awaited Hamilton Mixtape will finally drop on December 2nd with tracks by artists such as Usher and Alicia Keys. If you preorder now, however, you can even get your hands on 4 of the tracks immediately. Hopefully that can hold you over for a month until we get the rest of the album.

3) The CW Superheroes Crossover

The CW Network is now home to 4 DC Universe shows and this November, Arrow, Super Girl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will come together for a 4-night crossover event! Details have been kept closely under wraps, but we do know that the crossover will coincide with Arrow’s 100th episode, as the superheroes work together to defeat Cisco and Felicity’s “Sphere of Fear.” The event will kick off on November 28th with Super Girl.

4) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

A prequel to the original Star Wars: A New Hope, Rogue One tells the story of The Rebellion’s mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The much anticipated film will be released on December 16th and is part of Disney and LucasFilm’s plans to release three anthology films and an animated film in addition to the sequel trilogy.

5) The Return of Fraggle Rock

It will soon be time to “dance your cares away” for real, when Jim Henson’s quirky live-action puppet series returns to HBO, 33 year after it premiered! This time around, the show will be in full HD. While there’s no release date yet, HBO has said that the show will begin airing on the network and its streaming service HBOGo by the end of 2016.

6) The Release of Moana

Moana is what you get when you bring together Disney Animation, the directors of The Little Mermaid, and the music of Lin-Manual Miranda (EGOT anyone?) The story of young princess Moana from an island in Polynesia on a sailing adventure to save her people opens on November 23rd, just in time for you to take your whole family on Thanksgiving Day!

7) Hairspray Live!

I have grown to love NBC’s annual musicals. Now in the 4th year, NBC’s latest live musical event stars Jennifer Hudson, Harvey Fierstein, Kristin Chenoweth, Ariana Grande, Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Sean Hayes and Rosie O’Donnell, with newcomer Maddie Baillio selected from an open casting call to take the lead role of Tracy Turnblad. The holiday tradition will air live on the East Coast on December 7th. (Sorry West Coast, we get the re-run.)

8) Sherlock Series 4

Series 4 of the beloved mini-series will be released on New Years Day! So be prepared to ring in 2017 with a dose of Benedict Cumberbatch! Its a bittersweet occasion though, because Series 4 is rumored to be the last.

9) Anne of Green Gables

I happily admit that Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe were my first real ship and I watch the 1985 miniseries at least once a year. But now Anne of Green Gables is experiencing a bit of a renaissance. First up is the US broadcast of new Canadian film starring President Josiah Bartlet…. um, sorry, Martin Sheen… on Thanksgiving. Is that not enough Anne for you? Fear not! A new Anne of Green Gables series will air on Netflix in 2017!

10) Nintendo Switch

Last, but not least, a new blockbuster gaming console is on the way! This one is a bit far off, as the Switch debuts in March 2017, 5 years after Nintendo debuted its last new console. But don’t fret. To hold you over, you can try to get your hands on and NES Classic, which went on sale November 11th and is already popular enough to have sold out on Amazon.

If this list doesn’t get you excited about November, December and beyond, I don’t know what will! Of course if you still need to be cheered up, you can always check out The Game of Nerds on Twitter,  Tumblr, Instagram and even Pinterest for your most important pop culture news!
