Tandy, Carol, Melissa, Todd, Gail, and Lewis explore the self-sustaining building they found at the end of the last episode. With electricity providing many of the common privileges that existed before the virus (lights, air conditioning, working toilets, and a kitchen filled with wonders such as frozen pizza), who wouldn’t want to stay there? Lewis. To Lewis, it doesn’t feel like a home. It’s just an office building. No one else voices any concern and they decide to stay.

Since there are five floors, Tandy decides that they should each take a floor. He and Carol take one floor, and Erica and Lewis are both on their own. Todd had planned on living on the same floor as Gail, but she thinks they should live separately. Todd then takes Melissa’s hand, saying that that’s fine and that he and Melissa can take a floor together.

They’re indulging in what the building has to offer. Tandy makes a booze pool, like he did in season one. Gail pours more margarita in his mouth, giving him brain freeze. Todd is counting down the minutes until the frozen pizza will be done. Everyone sings, ‘Frozen pizza. Frozen, frozen pizza,’ and then the power goes out.

“I saw Citizen Kane once, and I always wanted to try this.”

Tandy and Carol eat their partially uncooked pizzas and talk through bullhorns to communicate from opposite ends of a very long table. Carol voices her concern that people will start to doubt this place as their home, since the electricity was the main appeal. Tandy flips all of the switches in the fuse box in an attempt to get the power back.

Todd lights a torch and holds it up to an office fire detector to activate the sprinkler so that he can use its water as a shower. Gail comes to talk to him about their relationship and says that she’s ready to be alone again. She thinks he should just be with Melissa.

While talking to Tandy about his breakup with Gail, Todd voices his concern that Melissa is still having issues from when she killed Darrell. It doesn’t seem like she’s ever really there anymore.

A piece of art falls from the ceiling, almost landing on Carol. After everyone walks off, comforting Carol, Tandy notices wire cutters. He assumes that Lewis cut the wires in order to make the building look worse and make people question if they really want to live here.

Melissa is practicing her aim by shooting office chairs with her shotgun. Todd tells her that he and Gail broke up. She gives Todd a hug and tells him that she’s sorry he’s sad and that she’s here for him. Todd almost starts crying because it’s so good to have Melissa connecting emotionally again.

Tandy confronts Lewis about the wire cutters, but he has no idea what Tandy is talking about. Tandy has had enough of Lewis’s shenanigans and decides to kick him out. If Lewis doesn’t think this building is a home, then he can leave and find his own home. Carol sees Tandy telling off Lewis, and she admits that she is the one sabotaging their new home.

Carol walks out of the room, upset, and Tandy follows her to where she’s curled up in a ball of angst on the bed. She opens up to her husband about how she always had a dream of where she would raise her family: small house, tiny yard, white picket fence. Tandy had been so excited about this place, and Carol didn’t want to mess it up for him.

They confess to the group the power had gone out because of Carol. Everyone forgives her easily, but she insists on punishment.

Tandy builds Carol a small house inside of this large self-sustaining building, so that Carol still gets her dream, in some capacity.

Todd finds Melissa walking around in a bra after she burned all of her shirts for no reason. She tells him the ‘good’ news: She’s ready to have a baby with him.
