Last week, Mindy & Jody tried to date, Morgan & Jeremy wanted Danny to let Mindy live & Danny was engaged to his rebound

The episode, very uncharacteristically for TMP, starts off right where we left off last week, with Mindy & Jody breaking from their kiss. Mindy is profusely apologizing for kissing him even though he has a girlfriend and he just runs out to text Courtney that: “they need to talk”and she for some reason took that to mean he would propose.

The next day, Mindy is wearing this fabulous shoe pattern dress that I have yet to stop thinking about. She goes into phlebotomy to drop off the test results for “Mrs. Pregnant Chick.” Morgan notices that she’s distracted and hasn’t even tried to steal his candy bar so he sits her down and makes her talk about her feelings. She confesses that she kissed Jody and Morgan is really bad at acting fake shocked. He tells her that he knew Jody was into her, under threat of being pinched. She’s furious that he shared so many “boring secrets” like who his birth father is – yay Morgan found out who it was. Mindy is sorta bummed that Jody doesn’t seem to be into her but we AND MORGAN all know that Danny barged in and was all “stay away from Mindy or else.” Anyway, she admits that she’s gotta learn to one day stop kissing her coworkers and kisses Morgan before she walks out. So that’s officially all the men in the office, I’m waiting for the season 5 office club night when Mindy & Tamra (or Beverly) make out a little.

In B plot land, Jody is at lunch with Courtney to break up with her and he picked a random vegetarian restaurant because there would be no sharp knives. Except he’s a dummy and he picked her favourite restaurant, so she’s already called her parents and given them the good news AND her friend got engaged to Brad at this restaurant so poor sweet Courtney is just sitting there all excited and Jody is about to break her heart. I never understood why people break up in restaurants – do you have the meal and act normal and break up before the check? Or do you break up after ordering food and make it awkward for everyone? Can you tell I’ve only been dumped via text or ghosted? Ha ha ha ha cries

Back in the break room, Morgan is briefing Beverly, the nurses & Jeremy on this kiss situation. Tamra notices Mindy’s type aka coworkers that are annoyed at her all the time. He then tells them that Danny was all bossy and forbid their love – a little dramatic. We then learn that Danny has been all up in all their lives, sending his healthy eating newsletter and more annoyingly Danny things. Jeremy is all “I make the rules around here now” he can’t tell us what to do blabla. Beverly speaks for everyone when she’s all ew they wouldn’t be a good couple they make no sense but Morgan says he’s patient with her and less yell-y than Castellamo – which is true, Danny sucked almost always, except for the back end of season 2 which was like an adorable mini romcom — there, I said it, bye.

Oh, hi again, maybe I should save my controversial opinions for the end of the thing. Jeremy & Morgan head to Danny’s practice to talk some sense into him. He’s set up shop in the freedom tower and decorated the waiting room with lots of wood and baseball memorabilia because he has no clue what women are into. Annette also made him hire Dot, to get her out of her hair so she can spend more time with Dr. Ledreau. Okay so fine I just made all of that up but it could totally be what happened. As they’re talking to Dot, Danny comes out of his office HI DANNY and yells at Morgan about how him & Mindy don’t have joint custody of him. Poor bb just wants to say hi to his male best friend. Morgan & Jer walk back into his office and are telling him that Mindy isn’t his property to control and he can’t decide who she dates. This nurse walks in and asks Danny what’s going on and Morgan is shocked that he lets her call him Danny instead of Dr. C AND THEN WE LEARN THAT IT’S BECAUSE ~SARAH~ IS HIS GIRLFRIEND. waves at Greta Gerwig

Back at the office, Mindy is heading out to the hospital and has an adorable hilarious and moment with Beverly as she asks her to forward her calls and then they both laugh out loud at Beverly knowing to do that. ITS SO CUTE WHEN MINDY AND BETH HANG OUT I HAVE FEELS. Also, is this the first time Mindy has worn the same outfit in more than one scene? Wow! Anyway, Courtney barges in, looking suuuuuper pissed and barges into Jody’s office. Turns out, HE GAVE HER CHLAMYDIA! Ugh my goodness these OB/GYN’s are the worst at keeping themselves safe. Because she’s an angel from heaven, she says that she forgives him and will get over it – so then he just bluntly dumps her and she throws his drink in his face.

Back at Danny’s office, Sarah asks him if he still loves Mindy (yes he does duh) but he says no and starts spewing his typical excuses about his dad and stuff and then just says it’s complicated. Sarah, gets mad and picks up this random vase and throws it against a wall. It shatters into a million pieces and she immediately is like oh shit oops i don’t know why I did that “I just wanted to punctuate the moment” but “if I had to do it again I would pick something less breakable.” She then storms out but not before stopping and calmly shaking Morgan and Jer’s hands.

Courntney has “a dramatic announcement” about their boss and tells everyone he gave her Chlamydia – too bad Mindy wasn’t there when this announcement was made!

Ah so many jump cuts. We go back to Danny’s office. He thinks he’s allowed to have a say in the men Mindy brings into Leo’s life, which isn’t untrue but then she should have a say in the women he brings over and I have a feeling she doesn’t even know about Sarah. They’re like come on, Mindy deserves a chance to be happy and Danny reluctantly agrees that okay fine Jody can knock himself out. Morgan punctuates this moment by kissing Danny on the lips – because who wouldn’t.

Meanwhile, at Shulman, Beverly and Tamra are riling on Jody about the sting and he begs them to not tell anyone about it and they agree. But, texting and tweeting don’t count so they immediately get the word out to Jeremy & Morgan who get the message just as they were saying that Jody+Mindy=great couple.

At the same time, we see that Sarah has followed them onto the train. She shares with them that sometimes Danny talks to Mindy in his sleep “like ‘Mindy, shut the fridge’” and that he refuses to tell Sarah anything about Mindy. Being a millennial, she of course stalked Mindy’s social media accounts and has become both jealous of and infatuated with her. She begs them to take her to meet Mindy.

While this is happening, Tamra has picked up Jody’s huge ass antibiotics and throws them at him because there’s no way she’s gonna touch him LOL. She then asks if he’s told Dr. Lahiri yet, who once freaked out when she caught a yawn from Tamra and is going to want to rip him apart. He says he’s not going to tell her -booooooooo- since he’ll be healthy in 7-10 days and they haven’t even gone on a date yet. Queen Tamra gives him side-eye and bounces because she has more important things to do. Mindy texts Jody to see if he’s okay because Court looked upset and he tells her that they broke up so Mindy is all yes hehehe let’s go on a date tonight.

Now she’s at the Lahiri Fertility Clinic, trying on outfits for her date, I’m so amazed by the many racks of clothes Mindy keeps in her various offices and I aspire to one day reach this level. She’s cracking herself up when Morgan comes in with a “new patient” who doesn’t have an appointment aka Sarah. Mindy will never say no to money so she takes the consultation. Sarah is totally fawning over her, exactly how I would be, and says that the guy she’s with wants kids but she thinks it’s a little fast because his mom only just stopped calling her “the new one.” Mindy is like wow that sounds just like my ex lolol our guys are two of a kind forced Greta Gerwig laugh. Sarah asks Mindy if she thinks about her ex a lot and Mindy says yes, she even draws his penis whenever she needs to calm herself down. Sarah gets upset and loudly exclaims that that isn’t Min’s penis to draw anymore and she just thinks this patient is giving her advice so she’s like omg you’re right. Then she starts sharing about her date with this new guy whose really supportive of her in a way she’s not used to. (Basically, she’s into Jody because he wasn’t rude about her clinic the way that Danny was.) Sarah is pushing Mindy to go all in with the new guy because she’s totally not biased. Morgan then walks her out and at the elevators, she says she’s relieved to see Mindy isn’t a threat (Morgan says she is only a threat to herself, has started pouring milk over cookies and eating it like cereal) she drops the bombshell that she and Danny ARE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s date time! Mindy looks fab and they seem to be getting along. They make some doctor jokes and laugh and share their life stories and yadayada. Jody walks her home and they make out on her porch and then he wants to leave because he’s “emotionally drained” but she’s like tough shit you’re about to be “physically drained.” In her apartment, he refuses to drink more wine and keeps trying to slow the sex down. She’s all eager and goes straight for the belt but instead of telling her the truth he runs to the bathroom. In her bathroom he can’t find condoms (ugh mindy pleaaaaase practice safe sex you’re a doctorrrrrrrrrrr). She says they don’t need one because she’s on the pill so unless he has “some nasty ass disease” they’re good to go. He nervously laughs and says “as if” because he’s a LIAR and then goes to the kitchen to try and find a condom. He finds a plastic bag and a rubber band and is gonna use it as a makeshift condom and omg I’m so angry at his ass right now it’s a good thing the show cut to Danny and Morgan!

Morgan is mad at Danny for not telling everyone that he was engaged – it’s barbecue season, he thought they’d be busy rolls eyes. Morgan is also concerned that they’re moving so fast. Danny says it seems fast but he’s good with Sarah and he lists things like how they don’t fight the way he used to with Mindy. He then starts on the saddest little monologue about how he’s in his forties so he doesn’t want a roller coaster in life, he just wants to sit on a monorail and watch other people have fun. Poor Sarah in all of this though. Morgan thinks that giving Danny an ultimatum i.e. he tells Mindy or Morgan doesn’t go to the wedding will work in getting Danny to fess up but obvi Danny’s just like oh bummer you can’t make it. But all the shaming works a little because Danny agrees to tell Mindy and says that she can even bring Jody to the wedding – how soon is this wedding jesus y’all take a walk around the block and cool your loins. Jody’s name reminds Morgan that he hasn’t told Mindy about the chlamydia so he runs off to text her.

Mindy gets the text as she’s preparing and admiring herself and looks reeeaaaaaaal mad! Jody’s still in the kitchen, and finally finds a condom in the freezer. She sneaks up behind him and asks if it’s true that he has chlamydia, he clams up (hehe) so she knows it is and she gets super pissed. She obviously feels duped and betrayed so she kicks him out even though his “mouth still works” (EW).

With everything that happened last week, I’m SO excited to see where the finale takes us tonight – it’s bound to be a wild ride with an epic cliffhanger that’ll torture us until October nervous sweats
