Last week on Mindy, the Shulman & Associates Theatre Appreciation Society saw half of Hamilton, Mindy gave Casey another other shot and Casey’s friend Althium Marcus didn’t like Mindy aka he loooooved her.
We rarely get to see Mindy & Jeremy interact anymore so it’s nice to see them having dinner, even though Mindy got up on stage at Hamilton and got kicked out during Act 1 gasp. The waiter tells them that someone has already paid for their meal and it turns out that person was drumroll please CASEY! GUYS! CASEY’S BACK <3! Dope Feet is opening a New York store so Casey is back in town and hanging with his OG NYC crew (including the bae Ne-Yo) and he wants to take Mindy to dinner.
In typical Mindy fashion, she struts into work the next day and wants to get everyone’s input on wether dating Casey again is a good or bad idea. Queen Tamra just wants to talk about what’s weird in her life, Jeremy and Morgan both say it’s a losing proposition, but Beverly is on board because Casey took care of things in the sack. That’s what Min wanted to hear so that’s what she’s listening to.

Jody makes a brief appearance in the break room to update us on his relationship with Ashley; they stayed up all night talking on her fire escape (omg is he a good person now?!) Once he leaves, Tamra shows them this blog “Celibacy And The City” that took the #1 spot her blog (Tamra’s Shade Shack) used to have in New York City traffic. Second drumroll of the episode goes here when we realize that this is in fact Ashley’s blog! She’s writing about Jody and calling him Colonel Sanders Suspenders. MTM (Mindy, Tamra & Morgan) decide to not tell Jody and keep reading the blog giggle.
Mindy and Casey are now on their date. Mindy is devouring an entire meat sword and is the only person that looks hot as hell while doing so. Casey tells her he missed them together, that he’s moving back to New York and that Mindy is his “one that got away.” She’s shocked and touched by this revelation and gets super excited about the invite to Dope Feet’s launch party. He keeps calling her babe, he pays for dinner, even walks her home. They’re holding hands the entire way and he even bought the meat sword. I give you all this backstory to paint you a picture and so you see that it looked and felt like a date. BUT IT WASN’T gasp. APPARENTLY, HIS FRIENDS HATE MINDY (sorta understandable, I’d hate someone who broke my BFF’s heart too); and they hate when she says Exsqueeze me (what monsters). He promised his friends he wouldn’t date her so he doesn’t go upstairs, takes the sword and his goodbye greeting is “stay tight.”

At the office the next day, Morgan is telling what seems to be a very moving story about his biological father but he interrupts himself when Mindy walks in to ask about her date. She tells them that it was terrible and that Casey’s friends don’t like her. She expects everyone to be shocked but they’re all like yeah you’re sorta terrible. Jeremy suggests that the friends thing is an excuse, “like when mother said she was allergic to hugs,” POOR SWEET TRAGIC JEREMY. Tamra’s advice is to get in tight with Casey’s crew (like when she was dating George Clooney and had to be BFF with Richard Kind, even setting him up with Beverly [they still text]).
After hearing Richard Kind’s name I thought about Bing Bong again so I need a few minutes to cry, brb.
Ashley writes in her blog that she thinks Jody is boring and old fashioned, instead of letting him self destruct his relationship, Tamra ruins his shirt so she can take him shopping for clothes made in this decade century.

Mindy, in her stunning Sal Perez original that we saw at the CDGA, takes Jeremy to Casey’s party that night, he had to miss book club but he was like “sorry bitches!” Casey is surprised to see her after their disastrous non-date and says his friends are there. Mindy has a five step plan for winning over a guys friends so she launches into action.
Jody shows up to his date looking all kiiiiiiiinds of fine. Leather jacket, tight sweater, omg you guys he looks so hot I can’t even focus. Anyways, Ashley can’t focus either so she kisses him to shut him up and they go to dinner and a movie, or something, who cares honestly.
Back to Mindy, she’s won everyone over except for Althium Marcus, who is not having any of her cool girl act. She tries to prove that she’s cool by “twerking” on Jeremy but he doesn’t get an erection because he’s on a lot of antidepressants [POOR TRAGIC JEREMY]. He straight up tells Mindy that he doesn’t like how she’s always trying to change Casey, and to stop pushing her boobs up with her arms – why is he onto us and also teehee he was staring at her boobs.

I feel like The Office should be the 10th (11th? who knows) character on this show, the same way “NYC is the fifth girl” on SATC. But I digress, the next day at work, Tamra and Morgan are reading Ashley’s blog to see her reaction to the new clothes. Turns out, she loves his new look (duh) but she’s demoting him to Major Crush because she thinks he has a crush on his coworker who he’s always talking about. Morgan knows it’s Mindy but Tamra thinks it’s her because Beverly’s Lutheran and he’s always fighting with Mindy.
Mindy and Casey are seeing each other again and he shows up on his hoverboard. He says his pedometer thinks he’s dead because he hasn’t walked in weeks (we saw him walk the past 2 nights but whatever bro) and Mindy volunteers that she threw hers out because it wouldn’t acknowledge masturbation as exercise (same). Mindy’s five step plan worked because all his friends love her now, except Marcus who hates everything, even Matt Damon. Mindy wants to try the hoverboard but, as you can all imagine, falls off almost instantly.

She probably fells off on purpose though so Casey could take her back home and help her ice her ankle and they could get close and reconnect in the biblical sense. They have an adorable interaction and as predicted, start making out. Casey gets up and Mindy goes to unbuckle his shirt when she’s mortified by his pizza rat tattoo. It gets worst when he takes off his shirt and she sees the prominent “vote for Pedro tattoo.” Because she doesn’t want to change him, she goes with the flow and they keep making out but then she sees the Minion dressed as Shrek on his back and can not take it.

In the break room the next day, Jeremy’s like “her ML” which makes me think he’s been reading our MK/ML tweets. Also there’s a poster for vaccination on the fridge which makes me very happy. Jeremy thinks she’s sad because another one of her celebrity crushes is gay but really she admits that she hates Casey now and finds him annoying.
Later, she’s working in Jody’s office and notices his new very hot look, makes him do a little twirl. Morgan busts in, makes up a story about an ingrown hair on his ass to get her to leave so he can talk to Jody privately. He comes clean about Ashley’s blog and Jody doesn’t want Mindy to find out that Ashley thinks he has a crush on her so he abandons work in the middle of the day to set things straight.

I don’t know why Jeremy keeps taking Mindy to the theatre because she sucks at it but I’m guessing he has no other friends :(. They see Marcus during intermission and he actually apologizes to Mindy about being a dick, saying that Casey has never been happier. She, like I, didn’t think dudes talked about this stuff, just watched skateboarding videos and kissed a little. Marcus is impressed that she’s a single mom and didn’t want to hate. Mindy takes this opportunity to pitch Lahiri The Musical with someone like Arianna Grande but younger as the lead. Marcus says hopefully your musical is better than this garbage and Mindy’s like okay thank god I’m not the only one who hates it and they giggle and have sparks and yay. Jeremy loved it though because he bought a Varsity jacket #ohboy.
Jody is yelling at Ashley to take down the post – or he’ll have to speak with her manager at the internet. She sticks to her guns, doesn’t want to lie to her readers (did enough lying at her old job predicting travel times for Google Maps). She reads the blog post back to him Jody realizes that Ashley has a point, he has a little crush. He tells her to leave up the post, if Mindy sees it the so be it. They part pretty amicably and all is well because let me remind you that Mindy DOES NOT like Jody back.

He goes to her office so he can confess his crush and finds her on the floor, because her hip gave out but also mostly because she’s sad. She’s realized that Casey is as wrong for her as he always was and that she’s falling for Althium Marcus. Jody gets uncomfortable and basically runs out of there.
Mindy goes back to Buchanan! to tell Marcus that she and Casey broke up and to confess that she has a thing for one of his friends. Althium Marcus plays it coy and they giggle and smile at each other some more and then they ditch act 2 and go on what I imagine is a hot date.

Another amazing episode last week, I loved having Casey back and Ne-Yo was a revelation as a romantic lead. The Hamilton jokes also made me really happy because I’m such Hamiltrash. Even Jody was hotter and less douchey. Don’t even get me started on Mindy’s hair and fab outfits, like I can’t even!
