This is a show that I heard many great things about and has been on my Netflix list for quite awhile. However it wasn’t till I read many debates on this show the american remake,Gracepoint I gave it a fair viewing. I found myself quickly invested in both the mystery and the community of Bradchurch. It has done what few crime shows have done successfully by mixing gritt, hope, fear and distrust in a near perfect manner.
Every actor in this show was strong with with stellar performances which gave this show a natural feel. Everything from characters habits to the lines of dialogue seems very organic which gave the feel of a community torn by tragedy. David Tennant is always wonderful but I felt that Oliva Colman as Detective Miller and Andrew Buchan as Mark stole the show. The chemistry between Colman and Tennant was disjoined and oddly refreshing in the best kind of ways.
The mystery itself was handled very well and left many possibilities. Its a bit of a familiar mystery of a “who killed who” but with a great and powerful ending which it has an impression on me. The ending was satisfying yet left us wanting more. It had a great depth of emotion, loss and hope which is what makes this show television at it’s finest.
