Intro:

Other than the recent trailer which was uploaded on April 4th, 2024, not much is known about “Ultraman Arc (2024)”. With the name of the ultra having been trademarked in late 2023, shortly after Tsubucon, fans have been speculating. Now, with the release of the trailer several months later, fans finally have visuals for the new series. The purpose of this article is to analyze these visuals along with new information prior to the release of the series on July 6th, 2024.

Ultraman Arc:

Ultraman Arc Appears to be a red and silver Ultra. Though his classification has not been decided yet, his coloring implies an inherent strength common in red and silver tribes. 

It will be fascinating to see how he functions lore-wise considering different Ultra tribes have different innate skills. As for other properties of his design, his color timer is certainly unique. Following the new trend of interesting shaped color timers, his is diamond-shaped. His pose indicates a confident and triumphant attitude with his fists pressing down on his hips. His shoulders are broad and raised and his posture is upright. As for his head, His face and head shape have elements reminiscent of Ultraman Orb. How he is connected to the rest of the main story is a mystery. However, It will be interesting to see how he interacts with The rest of the cast later on and with his host. Speaking of which, his host also sparks interest from a design perspective. 

Ultraman Arc’s Host:

Yuma Hize, played by Yuki Totsuka, doesn’t necessarily have an eye-catching look. However, there are still several elements to analyze. 

The wide-legged jeans he sports imply a level of desire for comfort and movement. The jacket implies a level of practicality and gives viewers a glimpse into his affiliations. It is shown on his badge that he works for an organization labeled S.K.I.P. This acronym, according to Tsuburaya Productions stands for Scientific Kaiju Investigation and Prevention Center. Yuma’s white shirt also implies a level of practicality, he is focused on comfort rather than appearances.

His look is very plain from a glance. However, that may be the point. Up to his bowl-cut hair, Yuma sports a classic, practical, good-boy look. One particularly interesting element, however, is the transformation device in his hands. 

Ultraman Arc’s Transformation Device:

Ultraman Arc’s transformation device differs from several others we’ve seen throughout the series. In order to activate the device, his host must put an Arc Cube into the Arc Ariser. It will be intriguing to see the visuals this transformation device presents once the show airs.

Ultraman Arc Conclusion:

“Ultraman Arc”, unlike “Ultraman Blazar” (2023), is likely to stick with the general Ultraman formula. However, It will be intriguing to learn how Arc connects with the rest of the Ultraman universe. Will Arc be connected with the Land of Light at all? Is Ultraman Arc perhaps connected to another planet instead? Will Yuma’s history be explored as Tsupro promises? What is S.K.I.P.’s motivation for investigating kaiju? Viewers will learn all this and more when the series comes out. Until then, many fans, including this author, have waited patiently for more information about the show.
