As far as Netflix series go, The Umbrella Academy is one of my favorites. It may be a combination of my inner emo teen’s love for Gerard Way and unconventional superheroes. Either way, it has always been a fun show that my partner and I enjoy watching. However, the ending of season three caught me off guard.

Season Two Ending Recap

Last we left off in the world of the Umbrella Academy; the family faced an epic battle at the farm. Vanya, now known as Viktor, aimed to protect Harlan from the Commission. The Umbrella Academy defeated the assassins; however, the victory did not come with a happy ending. Viktor extracted his powers from Harlan but ultimately decided to leave him and Sissy behind. Similarly, Allison had to leave her husband behind, and Lila left Diego. After these bittersweet goodbyes, the family time jumped back to the present day and realized the Sparrow Academy had replaced the Umbrella Academy. Thoughts

Upon seeing the Sparrow Academy in that final episode, I was excited to see where the series would go next. In the first episode, we learn that Sir Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven other children because he felt the original was incompetent. From that revelation on, the story piles on twists and turns. Allison’s arc was by far the saddest, and I got frustrated with her character. However, not having children myself, I feel this was part of my own bias. I also felt the writers did an excellent job bringing Viktor’s transition to fruition. It was seamless and heartwarming to see Viktor come into his own. Finally, Klaus has always been my favorite character, and in this season, it was nice to see him grow as the season unfolded. Overall, this season was fun to watch, but the ending left me a little underwhelmed.

Odds and Ends

There are not many odds and ends to showcase in this article. However, if you want to watch season three of The Umbrella Academy, it can be streamed on Netflix. As of now, there is no word on a fourth season.
