How Far Has League Of Legends Come?

League of Legends was developed and launched by Riot Games as a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game in 2009. The game was inspired by the Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) game but soon surpassed it and became the most popular MOBA video game in the world of eSports. Currently, League of Legends has over 180 million active users worldwide.

This popularity comes from years of consistency, updates, and tournaments made possible by the game’s developers and partners. In 2011, the first world championship season of LoL was held in Sweden with about $100,000 in tournament prizes. Now, world championships pool in millions of dollars in tournament prizes and millions of fans and gamers in viewership.

However, if not for the show pro League players put up in all stages of the annual event, the tournaments won’t be doing these numbers. These memorable events keep the players and fans on edge and bring all the suspense and thrill till there’s an emerging winner. In addition, some of these matches had record-breaking streams and pool prizes, bringing more fans into the MOBA discipline.

Some of these matches made lots of fans rich with LoL match betting. Till today, League of Legends remains one of the most preferred games to bet on in the eSports betting scene. The World Championship of 2017 saw many impressionable moments, but the match-off between SKT T1 and Edward Gaming is one for the books. The three-time world champions, SKT T1, gave the best gameplay in the history of world championships with a wombo combo.

The match saw SKT T1’s Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon Cho’Gath and “Lee Wolf” Jae-Wan Rakan coordinate The Quickness, Rupture, and Feral Scream simultaneously against Edward Gaming. Bae “Bang” Jun-Sik’s Venom Cask and Spray and Pray followed up this attack, and Lee “Faker” Hyeok’s shockwave aggravated the assault on Edward Gaming with his Shockwave command.

SKT T1 Vs. KT Rolster Bullets In The Hot6 Champions Summer

This 2013 match sealed the fate of SKT T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-Hyeok as one of the greatest pro League players of all time with his heroics in the match. The match saw the “Faker” dominate the game from the onset with his Zed outplay against Ryu “Ryu” Sang-Wook, who was using a similar champion.

Both clashed one-on-one, but Faker’s reaction time was too good for Ryu to match. The pro player gave Ryu a hard time with his Quicksilver Sash item to counter the death mark from Ryu’s character, coming out victorious. Faker went ahead to win the world championship title with SKT T1 that same year.

The arrow was directed at SKT T1’s “Duke,” who was preparing to teleport at the time. However, the arrow hit him to delay him from returning to base. This single action gave ROX Tigers an advantage over other SKT T1’s members, eventually destroying their Nexus to win the match.

Oh My God Vs. Fnatic In The 2014 World Championship Group Stage

This match was the talk of the eSports world when an astounding bug saved OMG from losing a game. It happened when OMG’s “LoveLing” miraculously earned the Homeguard boots buff while in combat, which gave the team an advantage over Fnatic’s “sOAZ.”

The boot gave “LoveLing” 500HP, allowing him to survive sOAZ’s Rumble ult. Loveling then defeated sOAZ just when he was about to fall OMG’s Nexus.
