Fear the Walking Dead – Divine Providence

It’s official, last season’s strong showing was just blind dumb luck. This season has really stunk, and I am happy to get to the finish line, but I’m also not excited, because I know that Alicia is leaving the show(Good for her!) We also are getting the return of Madison, talk about a huge net negative.

Moving to episode 14, it was an hours episode like the rest but not a large amount to go over as things dragged in the same areas a lot. Alicia led all the survivors minus Morgan and baby Mo to the tower to take it over. Alicia talks to Strand on the phone about what is about to happen when Strand convinces her to come inside to talk things over one drink. Wes is not a fan at all with Strand’s decision to talk to Alicia and thinks it is a big mistake. Strand assures Wes it will be fine and asks him to get the drink ready. He also tells the Rangers on the roof to be ready for nightfall.

Daniel is able to slip inside with Alicia insisting to find where Ofelia is. Alicia tells Strand that Daniel is not doing well, so Strand has Daniel taken to the dungeon for an essential time out. Strand promises that Daniel will not be harmed, that’s what the roof is for. Strand and Alicia keep talking about what is happening and the options, but Strand was playing Alicia all along and wanted to keep her “safe” inside the tower by powering on the beacon and bringing the crater walkers to the tower to kill Alicia’s army. Alicia is upset because she wants to find a safe place for all her friends and tells Strand she is dying and doesn’t have much time left, so Strand offers a truce, if she agrees to stay in the tower he will call off the walkers and attack on her people, Alicia agrees.

With this change of events, Wes, with the help of two Rangers tries an overthrow of power and tries to shoot them. Strand & Alicia escape and get Daniel. They convince him Ofelia is on the top floor to get the others in Alicia’s group. Daniel turns into his trained killer ways and easily gets the group to the top floor. Here, Daniel sees Charlie in her condition from the radiation. He decides that he wasn’t there for Ofelia but wants to stay for Charlie. Strand had a weapons cache on this floor as an emergency so him and Alicia gear up, along with tear gas and some masks to get to the roof.

Wes is there to try to stop them, after a lot of talking Strand stabs Wes with a sword, killing him. This upsets Alicia but her mission is still to get to the roof to turn off the beacon. Daniel arrived around this time and Alicia asks him to go and tell the others what is happening. So Daniel and a few others from the tower goes out to meet everyone to tell them what is happening, that walkers are coming, and that they need to get back inside the tower. The few remaining Rangers that were on the rooftop start shooting at them below, in an attempt to pin them in as the walkers close in, but Alicia and Strand make it to the roof and kill off the last few Rangers.

Strand stalls in turning off the light because he wants to know if Alicia will forgive him for all he has done if he does. He doesn’t believe that she will, she says she doesn’t have time for this, and he always makes the wrong decisions and gets the beacon to turn off herself. She then sets up a radio to broadcast out long range to tell everyone that the Padre they have been looking for exists, and it is the tower, but they just need help from the others first(in killing the walkers) for everyone to experience it. Of course it’s not that easy, because during the scuffle to turn off the beacon is created a fire on the tower roof that is likely to take the entire tower down with it.
Strand was stalling in turning off the light, Alicia finally did. Alicia sends out a radio call that the tower is the Padre everyone has been looking for, but they need walker help, but the tower catches on fire
