The Batman: A New Vision Of The Dark Knight

Just when you thought Batman couldn’t possibly be rebooted once again, a new Director comes along, and proves all the doubters wrong. The new main trailer for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as a younger Dark Knight closed DC Fandome on Saturday. It looks beautiful. The cinematography of all the scenes shown in the trailer just look so amazing. There’s a sense of foreboding, and a dreary kind of atmosphere where it feels Gotham is at its most darkest point in its history. And unlike previous Batman films, this new one really seems to want to bring the quality of the comic book imagery onto the big screen.

The new tailer lets us see more footage of Zoe Kravits as Selina Kyle(Catwoman), Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot(Penguin), who’s unrecognizable in some really spectacular makeup, which will definitely get the film an Oscar Nomination. We only get a small glimpse of Paul Dano as The Riddler, but that may be an indication he gives such a great performance, that the studio is saving how he interprets the villain for the film’s release. I honestly don’t know if Andy Serkis was a good choice to play Alfred Pennyworth, but I look forward to the actor proving me wrong.

A lot of DC fans I personally know hated the casting of Robert Pattinson as a young Bruce Wayne/Batman, but the same kind of uproar happened with Michael Keaton back in the late 1980’s. And what has happened since Batman(1989) and Batman Returns(1992)? Well, Keaton is returning as the caped crusader in the upcoming The Flash(2022) to much fanfare. So, let’s give Robert Pattinson a chance, the man has done more than just the Twilight Series anyway. Such as The Lighthouse(2019), and the wonderfully strange Cosmopolis(2012) to name a few.

The Batman will be released on March 4th, 2022, and then April 18th on HBOMax.
