Way to the Woods is a third-person adventure game, in which the player takes the role of an adult deer caring for a fawn. In a world where human civilization has collapsed, the deer embark on a journey home.

First shown in 2019, Way to the Woods is still in development. However, with such striking visuals and a mostly one-person team, it’s a project that may take time – but one of those that will end in something worth waiting for. Anthony Tan, the creator, has created an air of intrigue with this game by releasing enough to keep fans interested, but not enough to give away everything about the game.

The story of the game still remains a mystery. What we know is that the player takes the role of an adult deer, that cares for a fawn. The two of you adventure through a world where civilization has collapsed on a long journey home. In an interview, Anthony explains that the game has gone through multiple changes. What Anthony has told us is this: “unravel the mystery of Cat Town, evade a hounding pack of wolves, and find your light to explore a world filled with the relics of the old gods: humanity.”

Gameplay-wise, the key element to the game is collecting light. With the tagline of “all lights will guide you home”, it’s obviously the most important part of the game. Players will also be able to move, interact with objects and also break them with antlers.
