It’s no secret that Pokémon: Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee editions are a big deal. It’s also no secret that the games have proven a polarizing topic for fans of the long-running pocket monster series. Even Nintendo released information about a “core game” coming in 2019 to quell concerns of those thinking that the upcoming games are nothing more than a scaled down, heavy petting version of the franchise.

Pokémon: Let’s Go! Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go! Eevee arrive on the Nintendo Switch Friday, November 16 — less than a month away. With a steady stream of pre-release videos and highlights, what surprises can fans expect when Pikachu and Co head to the Switch later this fall?

Post-Game Content…Sort Of

Junichi Masuda, director of Pokémon: Let’s Go! promises that fans who are looking for a challenge in the first Pokémon RPG to hit home consoles are in for a treat. After defeating the Elite Four and claiming your rightful place as a Pokémon Master, a new set of challenges await — in the form of Master Trainers. These trainers are masters of specific Pokémon (there is a trainer for each Pokémon in the Kanto Pokédex). To claim the title, you have to face off with the same Pokémon, no items and a lot of gumption. A fun addition to the franchise, these Master Trainers are a completionist’s dream.

Meltan Arrives!

Meltan, the newest legendary Pokémon — and adorable companion of trainers worldwide — made its debut through a “leak” on Pokémon Go earlier this fall, with more and more details coming in each week. Though Meltan was teased in the Let’s Go! launch trailer as the mystery gift received from connecting your smartphone to your Nintendo Switch, we now know that the adorable metal-eating ‘Mon will be gracing your Pokédex when the game releases.

More To Come?

The developers of Pokémon: Let’s Go! have hinted that the Pokémon you catch in this game will be transferable to Pokémon 2019, but will any secret post-game story content be released to help bridge the gap between games? We have a hunch that Nintendo is holding out some surprises that will take these games from simple remake to something truly special.
