The 4th week of March didn’t really bring any new St. Patrick’s Day art in, but what it DID bring in was a pretty challenging top three. I must’ve switched the order around at least two times!
We’ve also got other great pieces in the other places as well, and some cool, and even spooky, honorable mentions. So let’s get right into things with the #7 pick:
7. Can I Handle These Seasons?
Italian artist Crym kicks off this week’s list with a pretty seasonal picture. I really like the concept behind it, and the stained glass window style of the background is pretty awesome. I like the way that Crym lined up the seasons as well – it makes for a very nice sort of visual and color gradient as it moves from spring over to winter.
This was one of Crym’s artistic freedom music commissions, done to “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.
6. Underwater Adventure
Sometimes you see a piece of art that instantly looks cool – and this piece by Elurax certainly fits that bill. This underwater dragon looks pretty awesome, from her chill blue color to her glowing green eyes. Eulrax also added some nice floating to the dragon’s hair as well, and the somewhat glowing jellyfish in the background adds some nice visual flair that’s not too overpowering.
5. His Throne
Whelpsy came out creeping with this delightfully devious piece that wouldn’t look out of place in a Castlevaina game. There’s a lot to like about this piece – heavy, dark colors, nice bits of blood-red color, and a terrifyingly cool-looking bat character. The wings flowing around the character like a makeshift cape is a very nice touch and gives the character a sense of regal danger.
Just…be careful if you decide to take a seat.
4. Dragon Lock
Looks like we’re hitting all aspects of cool this week – first we had the mysteriously cool water dragon, then we had the terrifyingly cool bat, now we’ve got the all-around badass cool dragon. Well, dragons in the case of Neungsonie’s lock screen picture.
Yes, this is now their phone’s lock screen. Honestly, Neung ought to open up for commissions like this. Sure it’d probably be expensive, but just think about how much awesome that kind of price would buy. This picture is packed with vibrant colors and nice, varied designs. Each dragon is varied both in design and color just enough to stand out, but not too much. It’s honestly something that wouldn’t be out of place for say, a AAA (or well made indie!) game cover.
Don’t be draggin it too much, though. We’ve got the honorable mentions to check out:
Don’t get too scared away, however. We’re about to kick off the top three, starting with:
3. Cake Time

Saint Cocoa teased us with this romantic picture this past Saturday. And what’s not to like about it? You’ve got a rather handsome tiger doing the classic bridal carry with a cute cat. And lots of fluff – seriously if there’s one thing Cocoa is great at, it’s making her characters look like proper animals with lots of fluff and furry details. And of course, some great, vibrant colors.
Saint Cocoa did post up an alternate version of the picture, themed around morning coffee time, but I liked the bright, vibrant clothes the cat is wearing in the “Cake Time” version better. Plus, nose boops, you can’t top that level of cute.
2. Tailoring Dreams
Sixth Leaf Clover sews her way into the #2 spot with this amazing depiction of a naga getting to work in her sewing room. I don’t think we’ve seen nagas too often in this series, and what an intriguing design to bring these types of anthros back into the spotlight. I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like this one – heck I’ve never seen anything like this for dragons and other scalie characters in general. Chiton-like coverings over a glowing underbody? That’s pretty great!
There’s plenty of small details around the room that invoke the imagination as well, such as different sketches of dresses up on the back wall. But this does make me wonder – how would this naga’s wedding dress look? You’ll need something to complement that glowing green!
And finally, we’ve got this week’s #1 pick:
1. Last Defense
Ilya Royz brings us back into the dark, cool world of the diabolical for this week’s #1 pick. We’ve got an intense battle against some otherworldly foe, and our wizard here is left with no other option but to send his familiar after the demon. I hope that familar’s got some tricks up their sleeve – this guy looks tough!
This piece has a very chilling, cool hue to it. That white flame also adds a nice, subtle visual flair to the overall piece, and again, I have to hand it to the demon – he looks chillingly cool and downright evil!
Congratulations and well done, Ilya Royz, your piece is the #1 pick for this week!
I should mention too that “March Madness” is very appropriate for this month – we’re getting a fifth week of March art next week! Mainly because five of the seven days of next week are still in March, and that’s just how it is in my wild world of furry art.
So be here next week to see what sort of demonic, scary, cute, and cool art I find out there in the Furry Fandom!
