This years Emmy’s Awards had a fun purple carpet, but the colors that popped out on the carpet were red, pink, white and black. I guess the stylist all got the same memo, but did I like those specific dresses? Not so much. Here are my picks for the best dressed…
Women

Rachel Brosnahan is wearing an Elie Saab dress and looks elegant, but in a very contemporary way. I love the details of the dress, such as the slit for her to show off her leg, and the modern neckline. What’s really cool too, is that even though it’s not shown in the picture, the dress has an open back. I also love the dark blue color. If you look in closeups, it brings out the blue color of her eyes and it looks great against her skin tone.

Maisie Williams is wearing a custom JW Anderson dress, and I surprisingly love it on her. At first, I didn’t know if I liked the draping going on on the side of her body, but I think it makes the dress unique. I like the wide V-cut of the dress and how it’s a-symmetrical with the rhinestones on one side of the bodice. The sheer bottom is a nice element too, and I like the length on her. I usually don’t like short dresses on these types of red carpets, but it’s still long enough to look like a gown, and I think it complements Maisie’s stature.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is wearing a Monique Lhuillier gown, and this was the perfect dress for her to wear for her big night. It was light and flowing, and even though I was skeptical about the color, because I thought it washed her out a bit, I think what saved it, was the rose gold beading, cascading down her dress. It was just the right amount of bling on her outfit. I liked that it was focused on her waste.

Jodie Comer is wearing a Tom Ford dress, and this dress took me by surprise, that I liked it so much. I usually don’t like this style of dress on younger women, but since this dress isn’t really a wrap dress, I think it works on her. It’s modest in some area, but sexy in others. The shoulder cut-outs are a cool feature and the way it flows, is amazing. It hugs her curves in all the right places.

Zendaya is wearing a Vera Wang gown, and this looks amazing on her. The color is great against her skin and the fit is perfect. I like the corset on top and how it becomes soft and flowy on the bottom. The matching shoes are a nice touch too. And I also love her new red hair. It definitely pops against the green.
Men

Kit Harington is wearing a nice black tuxedo, with white dress shirt, but opted out of wearing any kind of tie. He looks great, but the reason why I put him on the best dressed list, is because I’m happy to see him looking good, since he had recently gone to a rehab facility. He looks put together and that suit fits perfectly on him. Also, I’m loving his hair. The short hair works for him.

Mahershala Ali is wearing a custom Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo and I love a tuxedo that isn’t a standard color. The green looks great and he’s keeping it fashion forward, with his slip on dress shoes. I also like his matching bowtie and the pin on his lapel.

Antoni Porowski is wearing a Ralph Lauren tuxedo and he looks super dapper. He’s part of the Queer Eye team, so you know he would dress to the nines. Everything is crisp, and I love the details on the shirt. There’s pleating throughout.

Charlie Barnett is wearing a Ports 1961 tuxedo and like Mahershala Ali, I love the green color. I think Charlie took it up a notch though, because if you look up close, his tuxedo has a star print. It’s not overdone, but adds just something special to the outfit.
