Episode 127 is all about Jiren showcasing his phenomenal power, but at the expense of Goku, Vegeta, 17 and Frieza as we inch second by second to the end of the Tournament of  Power. Did Goku and the others manage to find a weakness in Jiren and dent his armor? Well, lets get right into the review, shall we?

With Top’s elimination in last week’s episode, Jiren finally unchained himself and exerted his full power. He became engulf in a huge energy, almost flame like that was so powerful that it can be felt all the way up into the stands where everyone else was at. Vegeta, reckless charged in at Jiren, causing Universe 7 to enter into complete disarray with no game plan against the mightiest of Pride Troopers. Vegeta and Goku both used up most of their energy in the fight but was soundly defeated by Jiren. Even Frieza tried to get in on the action in his Golden Form, but in a split second later was knocked out again by the Pride Trooper. The episode mostly came down to 17 holding the line against Jiren, so much so, that one point he was able to get a sneak attack in and tear off a piece of Jiren’s clothing off of him.

However the battle between 17 and Jiren was completely in favor of Jiren, with 17 only delaying the inventible. It’s at this point we get a flash back to when Jiren was a child and get filled in on his back story and why he became as strong as he did. Apparently a great evil attacked his world and killed his family, Jiren was spared and trained by his planets strongest warrior. When the great evil attacked again when Jiren was a teenager, all of his allies and the warrior who trained him died again. It’s at this point that Jiren only associated himself with those who are considered the strongest, hence the Pride Troopers of Universe 11, cause for Jiren only might makes right.

17, over hearing this from the Universe 11’s Destroyer God, begins to chastise Jiren for believing such things and using the rest of the Pride Troopers for his own selfish reasons. This eventually gets under Jiren skin and he launches a powerful ki bomb straight at 17, Vegeta and Goku – who by this point are both on the ground, exhausted and lifeless. With Frieza nowhere to help out, 17 jumps into the line of fire, places a barrier around himself and two small ones for Goku and Vegeta each. 17 knows he won’t be able to push or break through the ki bomb, so instead he sacrifices himself in a giant explosion to counter the bomb. Getting consumed by the bomb fully — a call back to 16’s sacrifice against Cell decades ago. This gives Goku and Vegeta a quick out as they fall to another platform below; with Vegeta being the first to his feet and marching towards Jiren as the episode ends.

Episode 127 was such a solid episode that I have no issues against it. The only thing that may be questionable is the weird slowdown that seemed to pop up here and there during a punching rush, whenever the fights got extremely fast. Other then that, I recommend checking this episode out, but if you’re reading this then you probably already have!
