After being renewed for Season 3, the cast of Black Lightning once again blessed us with their presence at San Diego Comic Con. Actors Cress Williams (Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning), Nafessa Williams (Anissa Pierce/Thunder), China McClain (Jennifer Pierce/Thunder), Cristine Adams (Lynn Stewart), Jordan Calloway (Khalil Payne/Painkiller), and Marvin Jones III (Tobias Whale) were all on hand for the panel.

Unfortunately, the cast was unable to dish out too much information on Season 3 as production has just begun on the new season, however, there were a few things that they were able to leak out. When asked about a Thunder & Lightning sister team-up, China said that they are partners in crime and you will see them together a lot more over the course of the season, especially in the first couple episodes.

After finally being locked up at the end of Season 2, actor Marvin Jones III is unsure on how Tobias will break free from prison during the season but it definitely won’t be with help from his old love interest Cutter. He said that someone will have to remove him from prison but he killed all his allies, so someone else might have to have a change of heart.

When asked if Black Lightning will finally join the Arrowverse during this fall’s much anticipated Crisis on Infinite Earth’s crossover event on the CW, Cress said there has been some talk and that he wouldn’t be surprised if they showed up. In the Comics, the Crisis on Infinite Earth’s event was a way to take all the universes in the DC comics multiverse and streamline them into one, compact, singular universe. While DCTV shows Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and the forthcoming Batwoman all take place on Earth-1, Super-Girl is on a different Earth called Earth-38. It is currently unknown where Black Lightning fits in the multiverse as we stand right now but Black Lightning has mentioned Super-Girl in the show before and during the panel Cress said he would love to see Super-Girl come to Freeland. Wherever Black Lightning fits in the multiverse, Crisis on Infinite Earth may be what allows Black Lightning to merge with all the other super hero shows on the CW.

A 5 minute trailer was also presented during the panel that pumped us up for Season 3 while bringing us back through the most electrifying moments from the first two seasons. You can check out the trailer below:
