Netflix’s The Dragon Prince Drops Trailer at SDCC

There’s a new animated series in town. This new adventure comes from Aaron Ehasz, the head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

This new show, which will air on Netflix, is called The Dragon Prince and promises to bring swords and sorcery to Netflix. The synopsis of the story is: “two human princes forge an unlikely bond with the elf assassin sent to kill them. Together, the trio embarks on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands”. If that does not get you pumped, you might be on the wrong blog.

Recently, at SDCC the voice actors for the three main characters were revealed to fans. Voicing Prince Callum will be Jack de Sena, who actually voiced Sokka in the original Avatar series. Voicing Prince Ezran is Sasha Rojen, who does not appear to have had any major voice acting roles as of yet. The character I am most excited about, the elven assassin, Rayla, will be voiced by Paula Burrows. Paula recently starred in the new tv adaptation for Freaky Friday.

The trailer certainly seems to live up to the promise of swords and sorcery. It also seems to maintain some of the light-hearted humor featured in Avatar: The Last Airbender with one of the characters offering someone a jelly tart. The Dragon Prince will begin airing on Netflix starting on September 14th.

Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’re excited about this new series!
