How to bake

Chocolate cake
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
2. Grease two 6 inch(15 cm) round pans with butter and flour. Tap out excess flour and set aside.
3. Add the two sugars and oil to the bowl of your stand mixer.
4. Beat it until it’s well combined, this takes about 5 minutes.
5. Add in the egg and vanilla and mix very well.
6. Sift together the flours, soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
7. Alternatively add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the sugar and oil mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
8. Slowly pour in the hot coffee and use a spatula to fully incorporate everything.
9. Divide the batter evenly between the two pans.
10. Place into the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick or skewer comes out clean.
11. Cool until you are able to touch the pans and flip the cakes out on a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely.

Marshmallow fondant
1. Create a double boiler by adding an inch (2 cm) of water to a small saucepan and placing it over medium-low heat.
2. When the water is just at a simmer place the bowl of your stand mixer on top of the pan and add the marshmallows and water.
3. Stir occasionally until the marshmallows have melted into a smooth paste.
4. Add food colouring now if you are making a large batch of one colour. Otherwise, leave as is.
5. Place the bowl on your mixer and attach the dough hook.
6. Add the powdered sugar in small amounts until a stiff ball appears. 7. At this point, you will probably want to mix in any more sugar by hand as it will be rough on your mixer
8. Knead until a pliable dough appears. If the dough feels stiff, you can add some more water or omit adding more sugar.

Rice Krispies squares
1. In a large saucepan melt the butter over a low heat.
2. Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and remove them from the heat.
3. Add the Rice Krispies.
4. Stir until well coated.
5. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, evenly press the mixture into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch (33 x 23 x 5 cm) pan coated with cooking spray or butter and let it cool.

Swiss meringue buttercream
1. Pour about an inch (2 cm) of water into a small saucepan.
2. Place over a low heat and pick a bowl that will fit snugly on top of the opening. You don’t want the bowl touching the water at all.
3. When the water has reached a simmer place the egg whites and sugar into your bowl.
4. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the bowl, and whisk the mixture constantly until it reaches 160°F (70°C).
5. Move your bowl to the stand mixer.
6. Using the whisk attachment, whisk your mixture on the highest setting until stiff peaks form. It should take 10 minutes or more, and you want your bowl to be relatively cool before you add the butter. If the mixture is too warm, your butter will melt.
7. Cut your butter into bite-size pieces, about 1 tablespoon each. With your mixer on low, add one piece of butter at a time, counting for about 10 seconds before you put the next piece of butter in. Pay attention and make sure the butter is combined before you add the next piece. Keep mixing until all the butter is combined in and you are left with a smooth buttercream.
8. Mix in your vanilla until combined.

Assemble
1. Level off the cakes and assemble, making sure to place buttercream in between cake layers and smooth around the cake entirely.
2. Cover in desired fondant colour
3. Grab and shape the Rice Krispies into a T shape
4. Stick a dowel through the middle or work around the dowel, but just remember to place it inside AND trim it to size so you have enough to stick into the actual cake.
5. Place into the refrigerator to harden.
6. When hardened, cover the T with buttercream, and smooth it the best you can.
7. Refrigerate again until smooth.
8. Cover the T with fondant and attach white fondant with water or vodka.
9. Stick the T into the cake where desired and crimp up green “grass” so it looks like hills or layers.
10. With the rest of the fondant, make the Teen Titan Go faces and use water of vodka to stick them on the side of the cake.
