Superstore - Season 3

Colleen Hayes / NBC

I know you’ve all been dying to get back to Superstore ever since last week when Amy and the hot beverage delivery guy were totally hitting it off, because I’m right there with you!

Lucky for us, that storyline is back and – for the most part – super cute.

It’s Local Vendors Day at the store, so Jerusha and a ton of other artisanal farmer’s market booth vendors set up at the store and sell over-priced merch.

Jerusha’s needlepoints aren’t selling so Glenn suggest to all of his employees that they should go to her booth and buy a few items. Obviously they all feel pressured by this and literally start buying her out. Poor Sandra buys so many scarves she disappears into them. Then Jonah casually mentions to Glenn that his employees might be feeling pressure by his request, with great power comes great responsibility and all that jazz. That was never Glenn’s intention so he apologizes to the employees, who then start returning everything they’ve bought. Jerusha gets disappointed all over again so this time Glenn legit threatens everyone and bullies them into buying from his wife.

One of the other vendors – guest star Kimrie Lewis-Davis – is selling artisanal beer that is actually bud light marked-up 300%. Honestly this is a genius idea, and basically a victimless crime, so I’m all for this WOC entrepreneur. Garrett however wants her to admit that he’s figured out her con so he keeps messing with her sales until she does. Then he asks her out but she’s obviously not into it.

Lastly, Amy and Alex have been on a few dates and are really feeling each other and flirting left and right. BUT THEN she says something random about burritos and he threatens to revoke her Latina card, which, ew. This tries to touch at something very real that Latinx face, people’s identity is constantly questioned because they don’t speak Spanish or they’re blonde or they’re too light-skinned or blablabla. This is a shitty reality and the show addresses it in a comedic and honest way. Amy doesn’t want Alex to think she’s not “Latina enough” so she starts speaking to him in Spanish but turns out her Spanish is not as fluent as his, and he starts talking hella fast and she just goes along with it to not look bad.

She agrees to something but she has no idea what it was. She gets everyone together to try and figure it out but it’s not helpful because no one speaks Spanish. This is when Jonah finds out that Amy and Alex are getting more serious and freaks the eff out.
