Everyone knows that Saturdays are busiest and most exciting days of convention weekends. There is no shortage of fantastic cosplays today, but have you noticed any exhibitors who stood out from the rest? If you’re looking for great content but want to shave down some time during your search, check out these creators and artists who really caught Natalie’s eye!

Neil Gibson, author of Twisted Dark

Fans of the Netflix series “Black Mirror” will enjoy with this series of graphic novels. The psychological thriller series incorporates standalone stories with characters who all interact with each other throughout the novels; the stories are meant to be read more than once because there are so many connections to be made each time. If you love shocking endings and psychological thrills, you will adore Twisted Dark!

During ECCC 2018, Neil is hosting The Challenge with TPub Comics at booth 1606 on the show floor. The Challenge is simple: all you have to do is get through a couple stories and try to leave without a copy of at least one volume. If you can walk away, you pass. But if you have the urge to snatch up the novel and continue reading, you fail. I took this challenge on and ended up with chills running down my spine by the end of the second story. This is one of the few times I can say I’m glad I failed at something — I’m hooked and I’m on my way to becoming a loyal TPub and Twisted Dark fan!

Even if you can’t attend the convention, you can participate in the Twisted Dark Challenge! You can access the first story and second story online, courtesy of Neil Gibson, and challenge yourself to not purchase the full volume afterward. It’s not as easy as you would think!

(A word of caution, these stories do contain dark themes and should be read at your own discretion.)

After you’ve read the stories, please participate in this simple poll to let us know if you passed or failed the Twisted Dark challenge!

Chase Kantor, Author of The Jack of Spades Saga

Have you ever wondered what might happen if a playing card enthusiast joined forces with a comic book writer? I certainly hadn’t before this weekend, but I’m so glad we stopped by Chase’s booth! The Jack of Spades Saga is a unique story that explores the battle for power between four families: the Diamonds, the Clubs, the Hearts and the Spades. The families are based on and inspired by the suits of cards, which I think is one of the most creative things I’ve seen in a while.

Chase Kantor can be found at booth 1522 on the show floor.

Christopher Jones, Comic Art and Illustration

Christopher Jones is most well-known for his work on the comic accompanying the short-lived television series “Young Justice.” His enthusiasm for the characters and content coupled with his creative art style truly stands out among other exhibitors. DC Comics fan are sure to find something that strikes their fancy at Christopher’s table!

Christopher Jones can be found at booth 119 in Artist Alley.

I’ve already gushed about these two all over Twitter and Instagram! Lifeformed is a graphic novel truly suited for all ages. Matt and Cassie are the perfect team to bring a young female character to life in her journey to survive a post-apocalyptic world invaded by aliens. They’ve prepared an exclusive Seattle-themed comic for ECCC that is available at their booth. Stop by, say hello and congratulate them on the next installment of Lifeformed, which is set to drop in 2019.

Matt Mair Lowery and Cassie Anderson can be found at booth HH11 in Artist Alley.
