We first meet Stanley ‘Stan’ Shunpike when Harry accidentally summons the Kight Bus in The Prisoner of Azkaban where Stan tells Harry all about the events happening around the escape of Sirius Black. At that time, Stan is only a couple of years older than Harry believed to be born in 1974 or 1975. He is the conductor and helper of the Knight Bus, together with the driver, Ernie Prang.

It is unknown if he ever attended Hogwarts and if so in which house he was. But if he did, he would have attended from 1986 to 1993, making him in the same year as Marcus Flint.

On 14 September 1996, he was arrested and sent to Azkaban for being a Death Eater. However, it is more likely that he was overheard talking in a pub about having secret knowledge of Death Eater affairs; it is safe to assume that it was an attempt to impress drinking partners that triggered this boast. Roughly a year later, in 1997 he broke free from prison and joined the Death Eaters under the Imperius Curse. He was one of the Death Eaters who pursued Harry during his escape from Privet Drive. Because Harry recognized him, the other Death Eaters recognized him as the real Harry Potter.

Whatever he did after the second wizarding war is unknown, the most likely awoke from the Curse following Lord Voldemort’s ultimate defeat, like all the other Imperiused victims, and returned to his job.
