Leaving Grey’s Anatomy

By this point, we know Grey’s has a revolving door of characters. Shonda has put us through so much already. We don’t trust that anyone will stay, and we’re not shocked when departures are among us.

In the past two seasons, Stephanie Edwards has grown to be one of my favorite characters on Grey’s Anatomy. For the life of me, I could not remember why she hadn’t been a favorite of mine all along. I thought maybe it was due to lack of storyline, until one afternoon, I was casually watching reruns of Grey’s on Lifetime. What I had forgotten was that Stephanie dated Jackson Avery during the height of my Japril Fever. At the time, I couldn’t appreciate her for the gem she was because she was just an obstacle preventing my ship from sailing. You will be missed, Stephanie Edwards. I vow to rewatch your earlier seasons and appreciate all of your adorableness, brains and drive.

Also exiting is Eliza Minnick (played by Marika Dominczyk, Scott Foley’s wife!), Arizona’s love interest, fired after the way she handled the crisis in the season 13 finale.

Leah Murphy, who returned this season as the least interesting plot device (she had failed at her surgical residency at Seattle Grace-Mercy West, but transferred hospitals and succeeded, making Catherine Avery reexamine the residency program at the hospital), will already be leaving Grey-Sloan again. I can’t lie and say that I care.
