Since SDCC was already underway before the official Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite panel could take place, the major news was actually done beforehand in the form of a new trailer that announced some surprisingly information, but first let’s run through the panel and what it entailed.

As you can see from the above photo, the main purpose of the panel was to go more in-depth with how the story of Infinite came to be.

In this incarnation, Ultron of the Marvel universe and Sigma of the Capcom universe found Infinity Stones and, as a result, the two universes were combined together. Also combined together were Ultron and Sigma to become…Ultron Sigma. The Space and Reality Stone are actually inside Ultron Sigma as you can tell in the photo, with one placed in his chest and the other in the forehead. While Thanos wanted to destroy the universe when he had the Stones, Ultron Sigma instead wants to “save” it by making everyone perfect like him. Perfect actually meaning slaves.

With the two universes combining together, this also results in classic areas from both universes to start trying to cancel each other out. The photo above depicts what happens when Thor‘s Asgard and Mega Man‘s Abel City form to make Xgard.

Even space isn’t safe from the combining universes either, with Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Knowhere trying to form with Strider‘s The Third Moon. Knowmoon is the result.

Black Panther‘s home of Wakanda and Monster Hunter‘s land Val Habar form together to make Valkanda. It was noted that despite the worlds colliding, this area is still peacefully ruled by Black Panther, unlike other locations that are more haywire. The heroes will make a stop here for the Time Stone in the story.

Locations aren’t the only things combining together in this new universe as Marvel‘s evil team A.I.M. has fused with Resident Evil‘s Umbrella Corporation to form A.I.M.brella (Yeah, a lot of these names are bad).

The main laboratory of A.I.M.brella is where MODOK hangs out and he has also come into possession of the Mind Stone, which the heroes will eventually need to recapture if they want to stand a chance against Ultron Sigma.

And because cross-promotion is a thing, there will be a comic tie-in that serves as a prequel to the events of the video game. It’ll show how Black Panther was able to contain the land of Valkanda and keep it peaceful, even with the new presence of the Monster Hunter universe. Also…you only get it if you preorder the game at GameStop.

To close out the panel before Q&A, the trailer that was shown the previous day was shown again, so now’s a good time to get into the actual new info about the game. Sticking with the previously leaked list of characters, the trailer showed off Gamora, Thanos, Nemesis, and Spider-Man. The surprise, however, was that Mike Haggar of Final Fight fame and Frank West of Dead Rising were also included, which suggests that the leaked list wasn’t actually the final roster. We also got to see the two traits that the Mind Stone will have in-game as it had been the last Stone not shown off.

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite will be out September 19th, 2017 for PS4, XBO, and PC.
