FLCL Season 2 and 3 coming in 2018

It was announced back in August of 2015 that Production I.G. bought the rights for FLCL (Fooly Cooly) from Gainax. And then in March of 2016 we were told that we are getting 12 brand new episodes of FLCL split into two separate seasons. Now it was announced (along with a badass teaser trailer) Fooly Cooly is coming back in 2018!

For anyone not familiar with Fooly Cooly, it was an anime that debuted back in 2003. And it was a wonderful experience. From the outside it just seems like an edgy show with action, rock and roll, sex, bad guys. But when you get really deep into the show, you meet Noato, a 12-year-old boy who has this internal struggle of dealing with puberty and growing up.

I’m absolutely ecstatic for what they will do with this show now. Every episode will be filled to the brim with its own personality and entertainment. That was something the first season did very well. Every episode being packed with amazing visuals and great music. Never finding a dull moment.

Finally, this is the official synopsis on season 2 and 3 according to Aduly Swim:

In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.

But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot β€˜Canti’ go?

Fooly Cooly is back baby! 2018 can’t come any sooner!
