The final major patch of World of Warcraft (WOW) The War Within has been announced on the heels of the 11.1.7 patch. Patch 11.1.7 is the final patch of the current season and introduced features like rotation assist, Lorewalking, and new delve systems; however, the big news is the highly anticipated 11.2 update that can be expected to hit in mid to late summer of 2025. This post will go over everything that has been announced so far about patch 11.2, the final patch of The War Within Expansion.

Patch 11.2 is called the Ghosts of K’aresh and is set on a completely new planet, K’aresh. This planet is the husk of the once great civilization of the Ethereals, which is a race of void corrupted humanoids that fled to Azeroth after K’aresh was destroyed. The Ethereals have long been an enigma on Azeroth as they have both been friend and foe through the many expansions of WOW. The story leads to K’aresh because it is where the Dark Heart has been taken after the final boss of the current season, Gallywix, mistakenly gave it to a K’areshian Ethereal. The Dark Heart is a powerful artifact that has the power to summon the all-consuming void, and in the wrong hands could be used to annihilate worlds.

The final patch of any expansion is usually considered the best, so there are high expectations for the Ghosts of K’aresh. While there is still a lot of information forthcoming, there is quite a bit of news that has already been shared. A lot of the new content is already up on the WOW retail Public Test Realm, so interested players can play test a lot of the new content.

Let’s get right into the meat and potatoes of patch 11.2. Of course, there is a new raid and eight dungeons that accompany it to make up the new season. The new raid is called the “Manaforge Omega” and currently has no confirmed boss count yet. The only thing that has been confirmed is that Dimensius, a Void Lord with dimensional powers, will be a cosmic boss battle, hinting at the fact that this could be the biggest boss battle ever. Unfortunately, all the dungeons have already been announced for the season, and some players are less than pleased with the selection. Here they are:

  • Eco-Dome Al’dani – a new dungeon coming out with patch 11.2
  • Ara-Kara, City of Echoes – The War Within season one dungeon
  • The Dawnbreaker – The War Within season one dungeon
  • Operation: Floodgate – a current season dungeon
  • Priory of the Sacred Flame – a current season dungeon and the most difficult
  • Halls of Attonement – Shadowlands dungeon
  • Tazavesh, the Veiled Market: Streets of Wonder – part one of a Shadowlands super dungeon and Ethereal-based
  • Tazavesh, the Veiled Market: So’leah’s Gambit – part two of a Shadowlands super dungeon and Ethereal-based

To summarize the dungeons, four are repeats from the current expansion, three are from Shadowlands, and one is new. Therefore, there is not a ton of excitement to be had around the dungeons. New in-game systems regarding leaving keys will also be introduced, so this could very well be a test-season for these new systems.

Other content includes:

  1. The new zone of K’aresh with new story quests, world quests, rare bosses, and other zone-specific content.
  2. A new artifact cloak called “Reshii Wraps” that can be powered up doing different activities in patch 11.2.
  3. A new delve called “The Archival Assault” and challenge delve boss, which is a returning boss from Nerub’ar Palace, Nexus Princess Ky’veza.
  4. Huge changes to classes across the board and new tier sets to complement that.

A lot of cool content is coming in patch 11.2, and there is still a lot that has yet to be revealed.
