Interview with the Vampire‘s first two seasons are some of the most powerful examples of vampire media ever created. Season one took viewers back to 1910 New Orleans. It told the tale of Vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, played by Jacob Anderson. Season two followed Louis and Claudia, played by Delainey Hayles in the second season, to post-World War II Paris. Given all the show has already covered, where could Interview with the Vampire season three take the characters and the fans?
The Vampire Lestat
IWTV seasons one and two pull from the book of the same name by Anne Rice. This means that those seasons were told largely from Louis’s point of view. Season two did pull in other characters’ perspectives, like Lestat’s and Claudia’s, but they were limited. Season three is shifting the show in perspective as well as tone, as the next book to be adapted is The Vampire Lestat. This means Lestat de Lioncourt, played by Sam Reid, will get the chance to tell his side of the story. The show has teased bits of Lestat’s backstory, and season two flipped the script by showing his take on various scenes. However, book fans will know that there is much more to explore.
Whereas Interview with the Vampire was an interview, as said in the name, The Vampire Lestat is an autobiography. We meet Lestat de Lioncourt as he awakens in the 1980s. Having learned of Louis’s published novel, Lestat decides to tell his own story in response. The book swings between his 80s rockstar lifestyle and his early life in 18th-century France. Over the years, readers are introduced to the pivotal figures in Lestat’s life. Some of these characters have already been introduced on screen. Namely, Armand, played by Assad Zamand, and Nicolas de Lenfent, played by Joseph Potter. However, others have only been mentioned in passing, if at all. Lestat’s infamous creator, Magnus, is one that fans are most excited to see portrayed on screen. Others include Lestat’s mother, Gabrielle, and Akasha, the original vampire.
Cast and Crew Perspectives
Cast, writers, producers, and more are already dropping hints about what’s in store. Lestat, Louis, Armand, and Daniel are some familiar faces confirmed to return in the third season. Casting for new characters remains unconfirmed.
San Reid says the new season is filming in Toronto, Canada, and fans can expect to be immersed in Lestat’s rockstar life through lots of new music. The man behind the music is Daniel Hart, who has composed for films and TV like The Green Knight and The Exorcist on Fox. A preview of Sam Reid’s singing is already out in the world. AMC released the lyric video for “Long Face,” which was featured in the season three teaser, eight months ago. The song features Reid’s confident vocals over guitar and drums. If the music in the show is anywhere near as fun, fans are in for a good time. And it will be interesting to see how the show approaches Armand’s role in Lestat’s past, as well as the present. Devil’s minion, anyone?
Familiar faces are exciting, but Louis’s presence in particular, being a constant in the new season, is a small pivot from the book. Though Louis is present in The Vampire Lestat, Rice does push him to the side more. It’s promising to see the showrunners and producers committed to maintaining the influence Louis has had over the first two seasons rather than disregarding his character. This doesn’t seem to be the only change. Based on the teaser trailer, Daniel will be interviewing Lestat. Where the book was essentially Lestat’s autobiography, the influence of another person asking Lestat about his life could lead to interesting interactions and new outcomes readers haven’t seen before.
Interview with the Vampire Season Three in 2026
Interview with the Vampire season three is still up in the air in terms of details at the moment. Even book fans don’t know exactly how their favorite aspects of the novels will be adapted. What we do know is that AMC has confirmed the new season to release in 2026. Without a more specific date, viewers are still holding their breath. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below and revel in the mystery.
