Synopsis:

The truth about Lord John Grey’s mysterious disappearance is revealed; Brianna faces off with the foes threatening her family.

The recent episodes have been quite dull. While they aim to advance the plot and lead to more exciting scenes later, the execution lacks engagement.

John:

It looks like John is about to achieve a win by saving William’s life. However, before he can do that, he faced betrayal again. Captured by the Continental Army, John was forced to pledge loyalty to them, which contradicted his beliefs. Fortunately, he escaped and reunited with Jamie and Claire, but now he was their prisoner, which flipped the situation. While John wasn’t held captive as severely as Jamie was, he now found himself at Jamie’s mercy. To help him regain strength, Claire kindly treated John’s injured eye. A surprising twist was when John revealed that Percy Beauchamp was his stepbrother. It turns out Percy isn’t actually French; he adopted the name from his wife. It was also intriguing to learn that there seemed to be a romantic link between them. Percy appears to be quite a philanderer with both women and men.

Jamie and Claire:

Jamie and Claire host a dinner at their home, which is also technically John’s place. Many familiar guests attend. Earlier, Claire met the Marquis de Lafayette, and she was quite taken by him. She recognized him from her studies and looked forward to his arrival. The dinner had its share of touching moments and some funny ones. The Marquis insisted that Claire try the gellied eels, leading to a hilarious reaction as she struggled to keep a straight face. She also met Percy Beauchamp. She was thrilled to meet another Beauchamp. She thought they might be related. However, we now know that’s not true. At the end of the meal, George Washington surprised Jamie and Claire with an American flag. This was a special moment since they talked about its creation, mentioning Betsy Ross. Jamie confides in Claire that he feels nervous about leading an army of 300 men. Still, I believe Jamie will handle it well. He has led many battles before and is a natural leader.

William:

Lately, William has been really annoying me. I get that he has learned a lot, but he’s acting childish. He looks disheveled, and to make things worse, Arabella and her sister, Fanny, followed him to his camp. Their relationship feels forced. It seems like Arabella is just there to fill the void left by William’s feelings for Rachel. We find out that Arabella and Fanny are running from Captain Harkness, who had tried to assault Fanny in the past. Arabella took action and stabbed him. Now that she knows William is in the military, she’s using him for protection. They have a fight and end up in an awkward moment in William’s tent. Arabella tries to sleep with William again, but this feels like a cliché where she only seeks sex. He tries to resist her but ends up kissing her instead. I don’t really understand their relationship. He wants to protect her, which is fair, but his feelings are all over the place. He can’t decide if he really wants to be with her.

To complicate matters, William takes orders from Captain Richardson, who is a spy and pulls him into a plan. He delivers a letter to the Hessian’s without realizing he is meant to be held captive to persuade John. This is where things get tense. Ian and John are on their way to rescue William, but I doubt there will be much cooperation. Even though John promised to help the American army, I don’t think he will walk into this trap.

Brianna:

Brianna and Rob were still caught in a game of cat and mouse, making no progress in their story. Rob and his crew searched Brianna’s house for clues about the gold’s location. Since the police were useless, Brianna and the kids have no choice but to go back in time with Roger and Buck to stay safe. What will happen next? Will they find a way to get rid of the gold for good?
