Synopsis:

Brianna works to thwart a treacherous plan that endangers her family. A surprise encounter brings new understanding to Roger’s journey in the past. Ian and Rachel take a big step in their relationship.

This episode moved slowly. While it wrapped up some storylines and included a wedding, much of it felt like filler.

Brianna & Jemmy:

Brianna has locked Rob in her house, while Jemmy is stuck at the dam. Jemmy was clever to remember Brianna’s story about escaping the tunnels, and he surprisingly discovered a portal. Although he heard Roger calling him, he didn’t follow the sound, likely because he didn’t have a gem to use the portal. It was frustrating that the police weren’t capable of helping Brianna. Rob managed to escape the house, which raises questions about his character. The police assumed Brianna was having an affair with Rob. While their misunderstanding is understandable since Brianna didn’t share any details, their investigation was lacking. Now, I wonder how Brianna will find Rob and sort this situation out. It feels like this problem will drag on.

Ian & Rachel:

The couple celebrated their wedding day. Ian and Jamie’s conversation about the wedding night was amusing. Ian felt nervous about his night with Rachel, while Jamie joked that Claire wasn’t gentle with him. It was great that Denzell attended, but the ceremony felt awkward. It seemed like a traditional Quaker wedding, with everyone waiting for “the spirit” to move them, which felt uncomfortable. The wedding night turned out to be underwhelming. Ian and Rachel were sweet together, but some moments felt like they were trying to mimic Jamie and Claire’s experience. I was taken aback by Rachel’s confidence, as she usually seems quite shy.

John:

We didn’t have much time with John, but I was glad we saw how he was doing after his escape. He was found by the Continental Army, which could be tricky since they are technically his enemies. I hope they show him some mercy given his situation. John has really been through a lot and deserves some good luck.

Roger & Buck:

Roger and Buck find the stones that his father must have passed through, along with his survival kit. Eventually, they locate his dad, and it’s a heartwarming reunion. For Roger, this moment brings closure since he never knew his father. He learns how his dad crashed, and since Jemmy is safe with Brianna, Roger discovers that his father hasn’t seen him. They share a meaningful conversation about their sons, making it tough for Roger to keep his identity a secret. While being pursued, they manage to get Roger’s father to safety and send him back through the stones. Interestingly, Roger doesn’t feel any change after altering the past. He believes his dad never returned to his own time, which raises questions about where he ended up. His father said he needed to see his son again, so it’s puzzling why he wouldn’t go back home. In the end, Roger realizes that Jemmy might not be in the past, but this journey allowed him to meet his dad. Hopefully, they both find a way back to the present.

Jamie & Claire:

Lying in bed, Jamie thinks about John and William and the mistakes he’s made. Although he knows John can take care of himself, I hope Jamie realizes how he treated his friend. We’ll see how his relationship with William develops, but it will likely take time for William to accept the truth about his father. To complicate things, Jamie still can’t move past the fact that John and Claire were together. I thought he had dealt with his feelings with Claire. Still, sleeping in the same bed they shared was a bad move. Jamie needs to let go. The next day, he shows Claire his General’s uniform, and they are back to the fight. As Claire mentioned, Jamie is finally representing the side they are battling for. The future is uncertain, and he might run into John or encounter William on the other side.
