2024 is coming to a close and we got lots of amazing shows and seasons that came out this year, like the conclusion of Arcane, Season 4 of Demon Slayer, and many more. Now, it’s full steam ahead at some shows to look out for in 2025!

Just keep in mind that this list will contain some spoilers of the shows listed here.

  1. You (2018) Season 5

Despite an anticipated 2024 release, I think it’s fair to say the fifth and final season will be coming out next year instead. The show follows Joe (Penn Badgley), a man who commits serial murder, and each season follows him in a new location where he gives into his urges of stalking a woman and causes chaos for everyone around him. At the end of each season, he’s forced to flee to cover his tracks so as to not get arrested. This anticipated final season will take us where it all started: in New York City, with a woman who enables his crimes.

I’ve been following this thriller show since the first season dropped and I’m excited to see how it wraps up; ideally I’d love to see Joe’s actions finally catch up to him for everything he’s done and to face justice once and for all.

  1. Stranger Things (2016) Season 5

Another highly anticipated series that’s set to conclude next year! Stranger Things‘ final season has been in the works for a while, and it’s rumored to be set in fall 1987, the biggest timeskip we’ll see yet. I’m curious how this will pan out since the conclusion of season 4 leaves us with Hawkins about to be overtaken by the Upside Down, so what will the characters have been doing for nearly a year and a half since then? Thankfully, these questions and more will be answered sometime in 2025.

I’ve also followed this show since its inception and what a long almost ten years’ journey it’s been! I have no real expectations or theories on how this final season will go, but I do have the hopes that Max will wake up from her coma after Eleven’s attempt to save her life.

  1. Devil May Cry (2025)

Now this one is a new show coming next year, but it is not a new franchise. Devil May Cry is an upcoming adult animated show based on the titular Devil May Cry video game franchise. I don’t really know much of the show except it follows the character of Dante, who is a demon hunter set to kill demons and their plans of invasion. The first season is said to be 8 episodes long

  1. Wednesday (2022) Season 2

After this show exploded in popularity when it dropped late 2022, the show is set to come back in 2025 for season 2. The show will follow Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) in the aftermath of what happened at Nevermore Academy, but she receives mysterious text messages of someone threatening to kill her. Clearly, things are not over yet, and she’ll likely have to uncover the mystery of who and why they want her dead. I’m excited to continue Wednesday’s story, though I do hope they tone down the romance as even Ortega herself feels like it doesn’t suit the character to have two love interests in the first season, so I hope that plotline takes a backseat.

  1. The Last of Us (2023) Season 2

Regretfully, I did not finish season 1 of this show, despite having enjoyed the game it is based off of. No real reason except that life caught up to me and I simply forgot. However, now that I know season 2 is coming in spring 2025, I definitely will rewatch and finish the season before the new one comes out. It’s said that season 2 will take place in a wintry town five years after the events of season 1. I know the second game well enough that I’m frankly nervous about this season if they follow certain plot details…

However, I know the show performed really well and I hope this coming season will be just as good.

There are many more shows that are slated to come out next year, or continue/wrap up and I’m very excited. I think next year will be another great year for shows, especially video game adaptations being on the rise lately. While not a show, I heard hints that an Until Dawn movie will come out at some point in the future and I’m cautiously optimistic about. Either way, here’s to 2025!
