Christmas films come in all shapes and sizes. Some are traditional all-time classics like The Grinch (2000), Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (2000), and Frosty the Snowman (1969). Others are non-traditional like Die Hard (1988), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and Edward Scissorhands (1990). Amidst these popular films, there are Hallmark Christmas films.

Hallmark Christmas films focus on simple romantic plots that take place during the holiday season. The stories leave fans of the genre feeling good. No matter how farfetched they seem, the films are easy to follow with little analysis from viewers.

Of course, these films aren’t limited to the Hallmark Channel, but these plots have become synonymous with the channel. With the advent of streaming, the Hallmark Channel partnered with other streaming services such as Peacock, YouTube TV, and Hulu. Unfortunately, this requires viewers to purchase unreasonably costly premium plans. 

Luckily, Netflix announced that it was bringing 10 Hallmark Christmas films to its service during the holiday season. In conjunction with this, Netflix is also premiering two new Hallmark-esque films to its service.

Hallmark Christmas Films

A Biltmore Christmas (2023)

A Biltmore Christmas (2023) follows scriptwriter, Lucy as she’s hired to write the script for the remake of the beloved holiday film, His Merry Wife. After submitting her script, the studio heads send her to the original movie set to research a new ending. Amidst her visit, she topples an hourglass over and finds herself transported to the original set in 1947! Time travel rules are now in place as Lucy struggles to keep the space-time continuum together, and her romance with the original male lead of the film begins to bloom.

Christmas Island (2023)

Imagine flying your first private flight to Switzerland. Everything is going according to plan until a snowstorm forces you to land. Unfortunately, this is Kate’s predicament. She finds herself in the worst place possible, Christmas Island. Not a fan of the holiday, Kate itches to leave the island.  She soon seeks the guidance of an air traffic controller to help her leave the island and secure her job.

Christmas in Notting Hill (2023)

Graham is a professional soccer player who puts career over everything. When he visits his family back home in Notting Hill for the holidays, he meets a foreigner who has no idea who he is, sparking intrigue in the soccer star.

Christmas on Cherry Lane (2023)

Three families at different stages of their lives celebrate the holidays as the next chapter of their lives unfolds before their eyes. Chaos, grief, and hope swirl around these couples as they navigate their predicaments while trying to make the best of the holidays.

Christmas with a Kiss (2023)

Morgan returns home to help at her family’s Christmas Carnival. Amidst the chaos of the holiday season, Morgan meets a photojournalist who reconnects her with an old flame. Morgan soon finds herself in a love triangle, struggling between her past and future. 

Haul Out the Holly (2022)

57% of people despise HOAs, and for good reason. Most people would probably join that 57% as they find themselves slapped with an HOA infraction for not decorating their parents’ home. However, Emily finds herself up to the task of avoiding a penalty fee and trouble for her parents who are in the middle of a vacation. 

Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up (2023)

This sequel follows Emily and her beau as they celebrate the holidays and continue to avoid HOA citations about their decor. When new neighbors move in, the block is shocked when they realize the new neighbors take Christmas decorating as seriously as the HOA, sparking competition between the neighborhood to present showstopping holiday homes.

A Heidelberg Holiday (2023)

Glass artisan Heidi finds herself en route to Germany to sell her handmade glass ornaments at the prestigious Heidelberg Christmas Market. While there, her luggage is delayed and she finds herself in the company of a local artisan who shows her around. 

A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023)

Estranged siblings Lindsay and Brad find themselves in Scotland for Christmas to visit their mother. Soon, the siblings find themselves in the care of a castle and its people. Forced to work through the issues, the siblings must come together to navigate the future of their families.

Miracle in Bethlehem, PA (2023)

This film is a modern retelling of the birth of Jesus. Mary Ann and her newly adopted baby girl find themselves stuck in Bethlehem, PA. With no vacancy in any inns, Mary Ann must hunker down with Joe, the innkeeper’s brother. 

New Netflix Hallmark-esque films

Hot Frosty (2024)

Two years after losing her husband, Cathy somehow brings a snowman to life. With his innocent charm, Cathy finds solace in the man. However, as a snowman, he’s doomed to melt once the winter ends. Can she keep him frosty forever?

Meet Me Next Christmas (2024)

After a meet-cute in an airport, Layla finds herself promising the man to meet him at a Pentatonix Christmas concert next year. Unfortunately for Layla, the show sold out. Now, she finds herself running around New York City, with the help of a very handsome concierge, asking anybody and everybody for a ticket to the show to meet the love of her life.
