Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables has charmed readers for a century and it is about to charm viewers in the digital age, with the new television adaptation, Anne with an E, an eight-episode series which begins streaming May 12th on Netflix.

Anne tells the story of Anne Shirley, a young orphan who is mistakenly sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and Marilla and worms her way into their hearts.

Originally developed for Canadian TV by Breaking Bad writer/producer Moira Walley-Beckett, the show has already aired to positive reviews in Canada. Check out the trailer below and then add the show to your Netflix queue for a health dose of nostalgia!

  1. I can’t see “Anne with an E” w mitjout thinking about Anne from Arrested Development and the running gag about calling her egg, and doesn’t help that they’re both on Netflix
