It has been a long time since I played a first-person shooter. The last one I remember playing was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, which, after reviewing my posts, was over two years ago. This genre and franchise solidified my gaming bond with my spouse. Since it feels like being stuck in an air fryer anytime we go outside, we figured it was time to find a new first-person shooter. The Steam Summer Sale got us two copies of Redfall for the price of one, and I have some thoughts. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

Redfall‘s Plot
The idyllic island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, has been hit by a blight. Vampire gods have taken over the city, blocked out the sun, and cut everyone off from the outside world. Created by science and maybe a touch of mysterious power, these creatures of the night are out for blood. As one of the four heroes in this story, it is your job to figure out the origin of the vampires and send them packing. Will you save the day? Or will Redfall be stuck in a tomb of endless nights? Ultimately, there is only one way to find out.

Thoughts on Redfall
When Redfall was first announced, I remember being so stoked. I am an avid lover of horror movies, but admittedly, I am a giant baby when it comes to horror games. Knowing it would be cooperative made me think I could overcome my fears with my spouse. Unfortunately, the reviews during the launch were disappointing. The AI seemed lacking and, from what I heard, was not worth the price point. If I needed to purchase two games, I wanted to ensure it was worth our time, so we decided against it. However, it was on sale during the Steam Summer Sale. Therefore, we decided to take a chance, and boy, am I glad we did.
Since the game has been updated, we have seen very few issues with the enemy AI. I also have yet to see the game crash. Ultimately, we are happy with Redfall’s performance. My spouse is playing as Devinder and having a great time with his teleporter. I am playing as Remi and love having Bribón follow us around. We are vampire-killing machines.
Additionally, the storyline has hooked us in. After 20 hours of playing, we are excited to see how it ends. We feel a connection to the characters and story. I have not felt this in a video game for a long time. Overall, Redfall has been fun, and if you see it on sale, I highly recommend trying it.
Odds & Ends
If you want to get in on the action, Redfall is available on Steam and Xbox. Regarding another first-person shooter recommendation, I suggest Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Both have fun elements and just feel great playing coop. In the end, I enjoyed both titles and cannot wait to see what other first-person shooters I will find.
