March 31 marks Mario’s death. At least that is what the internet coined it.

Nintendo marked March 31 as the day it takes off some Mario-related products off the market for Mario’s 35th anniversary. Products like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Bros. 35, Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., and the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary merchandise.
IGN stated that, “Nintendo has made clear that remaining stock of limited products will be sold while stocks last, and download codes will stay functional after March 31.” Nintendo has yet to completely explain why they’re doing this. The fans are just as confused as us on Nintendo’s decision to do this and thus interpreting March 31 as the day Mario dies along with creating memes to match the confusion.

According to IGN, it’s intended to be some sort of way to celebrate the anniversary, but also won’t be used again. This hardly explains why Nintendo is doing this, but fans are being let down by the fact that Nintendo is fully explaining why they’re doing this. Hopefully you were able to get the products in time before some people inflate the price on Ebay! Lets also hope Nintendo doesn’t pull this stunt again.
