My notes from this past week are very sparse, so I’m not sure how much I’m going to find to talk about. It felt like a bit of a quiet week in Erinsborough (hairspray attacks aside), but I will do my best to round it all up anyway.

Tuba Theft

Eirini Rising continues to be a bit of a disaster, with kids from the school still running riot in the retirement complex. The trouble has escalated from stink bombs to theft, with random items going missing from various residents’ apartments. Even Harold’s tuba has gone missing, and I honestly cannot fathom how the thieves got that out of the building without anyone knowing – it would require a very voluminous coat to hide it under. Still, I bet Harold’s closest neighbours will be quite pleased.

While working, Susan is knocked to the ground by a group of hooded teenagers there to cause more mayhem, and she cannot get up off the floor. Terese and Karl find her and help her up but she’s incredibly shaken, despite not having any serious injuries. After earlier being mistaken for a resident by a delivery man, the fall has Susan thinking about growing old, and worrying what’s in store for her. She’s taken quite a mental knock from the incident, and doesn’t seem keen to be out of the house again.

Jane’s Got Cold Feet

People have finally started to comment on the fact that Jane hasn’t seen her partner in months, because he keeps extending his European motorbike adventures. If I was Jane, I’d have given him the heave-ho ages ago, because he’s clearly having too much fun without her to come home, and that’s not a good sign ahead of marrying someone.

Vic is especially keen to twist the knife on the subject of Mike’s absence, because he’s clearly snuffling around looking for a reconciliation between him and Jane, and Jane is overly touchy when he mentions it. I mean, her relationship isn’t his business at all, but he does happen to be right and hits a very big nerve with what he says.

Sam has noticed that Vic and Jane seem to be getting closer, and she’s feeling quite upset about Vic replacing her dad in Jane’s affections, so she and Byron arrange for Jane to go and pick her wedding dress. The three of them have some exceptionally cute fun together while Jane tries millions of dresses on that all look practically the same to me. She eventually picks one, but rather than being excited, the dress seems to bring it home to her that she’s having pretty major second thoughts about marrying Mike.

I think we can all see how this is going to end – my only question is what will happen to Sam once Jane and Mike call off the engagement?

Aaron Does a U-Turn

Leo is selling number 32, and Aaron decides that he wants to buy it. It does seem like he discusses it casually with Nicolette, but they’ve by no means settled on a decision about where they’re going to live when Aaron goes ahead and puts an offer on the house anyway. Decidedly not cool, Aaron. Nicolette should have more say about where she’s going to live with her daughter.

Anyway, after a literal two conversations about the house being connected with too many memories of David, Aaron does an absolute about-face and decides he doesn’t want it any more. As soon as he’s turned the house down, Leo accepts the higher offer he’s received, and the tenants find out that the new owner is happy to have them stay on. They’re ecstatic at first, but then they find out who their new landlord is. I was convinced Vic was going to buy the house, but it turns out the owner is none other than Vera Punt, which is going to lead to some major shenanigans. I’m excited about it.

Doing a Holly

Holly is absolutely out of control and her behaviour this week is an absolute smorgasbord of terrible decisions and truly unhinged behaviour. She’s trying to help fix things after her tip-off to the true crime podcast which lead to Leo’s whole business tanking. She pretends to be Mackenzie, without a single thought about that might affect her friend’s job, and goes to investigate the other restaurant caught up in the poisoning case. She thinks she’s found evidence that shows the podcast host, Liv, is involved, but instead of giving said evidence to the police, she decides to confront Liv by herself. Things escalate when Holly makes the accusations, and despite Liv only getting slightly tetchy with her, Holly inexplicably fears for her life and ends up spraying hairspray in her face, which is absolutely bonkers. I’ve no idea what on earth she was thinking.

Luckily, she isn’t facing any charges, but unbeknownst to her that is down to Krista throwing a few threats around. She says she’s going to take the podcast to court for defamation unless Holly’s charges are dropped and the podcast takes a break from trying to ruin Leo’s business. Leo is going to be simply thrilled when he finds out that Krista has gone and done a Paul on him. As if he wasn’t sad enough already.

A Few Random Notes

As usual, here are a couple of my random notes from this week:

  • I think the bigger problem with the school and Eirini Rising being next to each other is how often Terese keeps barging into Erinsborough High during school hours.
  • JJ is making things worse. He KNOWS Nell likes him and not Dex. What does he think is going to happen? He’s a thicko deluxe.
  • I want to see Nic and Byron run a bubblegum farm.
