It’s been another pretty big week in Erinsborough, so I won’t waffle too much. Let’s get to it.

Wendy And Andrew Handle Their Daughter’s First Relationship Really Well

After Andrew walked in on Sadie and Byron getting down to it dressed like two characters from Bridgerton, there’s no hiding their relationship anymore. I’ll be honest, I expected Wendy to react in an utterly deranged way, because that’s what she does, but Andrew gives her a run for her money in the crazy stakes.

Wendy decides she’s going to do her best to be The Cool Mum™, so she tries too hard to be absolutely fine with the concept of her daughter having sex, so much so that she yells across the street to them that she hopes they had “a safe night”. How Sadie doesn’t just explode on the spot from sheer embarrassment, I will never know.

Andrew’s particular flavour of bonkers is The Caveman Dad™ variety, and if the police uniform included a string of pearls he would be clutching the heck out of them at the thought of Sadie sleeping with an ex-escort. Of course, Byron’s previous career choice was absolutely fine when Andrew wanted a few tips on how to give Wendy a good time, but now that the person having all the fun is his daughter, he’s outraged. Hypocritical much? Andrew takes it way too far when he gives Byron a ticket for his tyres being bald, and Byron decides he’s had quite enough of dating an over-protective cop’s daughter, thank you very much. Byron dumps Sadie before their relationship even gets off the ground, but events later in the week suggest that things might end up back on between them again.

Have A Banana

Another person taking way too much of an interest in the sex life of one of their family members is Nicolette, who becomes a bit obsessed about Jane giving Mike some sort of saucy show next time they FaceTime. Jane goes along with it and gets herself something special to wear for their next call. The next day at school, everyone keeps making jokes about bananas in front of Jane, and she’s completely bewildered until Dex plucks up the courage to show her a video that’s doing the rounds, of her being a bit suggestive with a banana. Can we just have a moment of appreciation for Dex here? It took guts to tell Jane about this, and I thought he deserved a bit more praise.

Jane is horrified, as is Nicolette, who automatically assumes that Jane has had some sort of Boomer technological mishap and accidentally leaked her own sex tape, but Jane insists it isn’t real. It’s finally Mackenzie who puts two and two together and realises that someone is targeting the residents of Ramsay Street with deep fakes of some sort, and this would explain Aaron’s phone call from David as well. As much as this is still causing heartbreak for Aaron, it did amuse me that people coming back from the dead happens so often in Erinsborough that it’s altered Aaron’s perception of whether it’s actually possible.

My suspicions are confirmed when we see Haz deleting a folder called “Jane” from his laptop. But we all know that deleted files are never truly gone, so I’m expecting that to resurface at some point. I still can’t figure out why Haz is doing this, I thought we’d get answers this week, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer. I wonder who his next deep fake target will be – Mackenzie? Byron?

Chelsea Gets Desperate

Chelsea is panicking because Paul is growing closer to Leo again, and Terese is back in town, so she’s feeling threatened again. She’s still trying to stall any sort of investigation into the sauna incident and she’s desperate to solidify her role in Paul’s life, so she gives into her desperation and spontaneously asks him to marry her. He’s quite obviously horrified, so she spends the next couple of days furiously backpedalling. I haven’t got much else to say about Chelsea other than that she needs to go, and I need it to happen soon.

Felix Squashes His Brother

After Cara and Remi magnificently take down Slade in a citizen’s arrest in the complex, Felix is left quite literally without a partner in crime. JJ is absolutely gagging to step in and help him instead and, because Felix is a bigger tool than any of the ones he’s trying to steal from the building site, he goes along with the idea.

Meanwhile, Holly has found Felix’s little crime map that he stupidly left tucked inside the book he gave to her. She figures out that the scribbles are instructions of when to rob the building site, what to take, and where it all is. She goes to tell Andrew, and Andrew immediately heads to the building site to investigate.

He catches Felix and JJ red-handed, and in the ensuing chaos some scaffolding falls over and squashes Andrew. Felix gets JJ to run away, he calls an ambulance and then scarpers, leaving his brother unconscious on the floor. In one fell swoop, he’s turned his son into a criminal, flattened his brother, and made enemies with his sister-in-law and his son’s mother. All in all, it’s not a great day for Felix.

JJ’s Baby Daddy Is Finally Revealed

Wendy and Andrew are understandably furious about what Felix has done, and Andrew reveals that he saw JJ helping Felix out. When Wendy goes home to see if there’s any sign of Felix, she finds his bag which contains the missing pages from Philippa’s diary, and they finally spell out what we’ve all known for ages – that Felix is JJ’s dad.

Andrew calls Cara and Remi to the hospital to tell them that not only is Felix JJ’s dad, but he also got him involved in criminal activity. I love the way that Cara and Remi handle this. Remi doesn’t blow up at Cara again over using the mystery sperm lucky dip that Philippa seems to have been organising, and the two of them decide to unite to help JJ through whatever is going to happen next.

When they finally find him, they approach the situation with such care and love, while still letting him know that he’s going to have to face the consequences. Tip top parenting, there. I can’t imagine either of them will react as well as that next time they run into Felix though. If I was him, I would be very, very afraid…
