Amazon released the trailer for their adaptation of Bethesda’s hit RPG Fallout to relatively positive reviews. It showcased Amazon’s interpretation of the world of Fallout, including the notorious Brotherhood of Steel and a ghoulish-looking cowboy. The show also seems to have a more lighthearted and zany atmosphere about it, staying faithful to its source material.
“Aesthetically, it looks like a Fallout show should, but trailers can be deceiving,” said an anonymous Fallout fan. “It seems as though they’re tapped into what makes the series its own without seeming too focused on fan service. The fact it looks and feels like Fallout is good.”
First announced in 2020, the show is being helmed by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, writer for Tomb Raider, and Graham Wagner, who wrote for Star Trek: Discovery. Additionally, the creators of Westworld, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films, are the producers of the show.

Video game to film adaptations have a mixed record of success. They range from global phenomena like HBO’s The Last of Us to the disappointment that was Paramount’s Halo. Most fans of the series are optimistic due to the producers’ past projects and the costume design displayed in the trailer. The setting is going back to the western coast and the remnants of Los Angeles. A setting last seen in the original Fallout 2.
“I feel like they’ve got the tone nailed,” said Reddit user Jekelish3 on r/ManyATrueNerd. “I’m very (cautiously) optimistic. Of course, when you start a trailer with Walton Goggins just being his preternaturally charming self the first twenty seconds, that’s a surefire way to lure me in and get in my good graces.”

The character referred to in this post is Walton Goggins’ Cooper Howard. This character will most likely turn into the bounty hunter simply known as “The Ghoul”, also seen later in the trailer. While not star-studded, the cast is not acting novices. Lucy, the main character, is portrayed by Ella Purnell, known for Army of the Dead, and is the voice of Arcane’s Jinx. Aaron Moten portrays the Brotherhood of Steel character Maximus. His notable roles include Travis from Disjointed and Ham from Father Stu.
Fallout is looking to be very promising for fans and newcomers alike. But everyone will have to wait until April 11 for it to be released on Amazon video.
I’ve been a fan of the franchise for ten years, and I’m really hoping that if this does well, it will encourage Bethesda to stop dragging its heels and make Fallout 5 already.
Agreed, and it’ll encourage them to put actual time and effort into their products again.
