With episode three we have a transition episode, it’s not that it was bad at all, it just was setting the table for the back half of the season. The table setting starts with a Rick flashback to a free day in the city, where he focuses on the large windmills at the top of the city. He “runs” into, and we use that loosely, Jadis who tells Rick some of the truths of what is happening. They traded people for supplies, and she traded Rick for her freedom, but she told them he was a B so he wouldn’t be killed, she has bought in to what the CRM has been selling as she has decided to join the military.
Bringing it back to the current day, RIck wants Thorne to go to bat for Michonne, which she does, while Jadis put things in place to cover herself against Rick by putting information in her file that would expose all the secrets about Rick which would make the CRM go to Alexandria and wipe them all out, she never did this because she never worried about Rick being able to escape on his own, but she knows together they would be able to. The CRM believes that Michonne is an A but lets her in anyway, and early on in cleanup she proves the fact.

Nobody believes anyone, and Beal doesn’t trust Rick, he refers to him as a point and a cure, he still hasn’t come around in regards to Rick. Beal takes Thorne for a private chat, she ends up getting a promotion. Rick thinks it’s time to make the move for escape and he slips the details to Michonne, but in the end it was a Rick trick to try to get Michonne to leave by faking her death. He thinks that they won’t be able to both escape and have a home to go back too, and the best way that he knows Judith and everyone would be safe is if Michonne leaves him there and he stays behind to make sure they are all OK. Rick wants Jadis to review the death of Michonne but she is called off on duty and won’t be able too, it doesn’t matter as Michonne didn’t listen and Rick is called to the front line as Michonne was going beast mode causing a scene.
Michonne gets her day in the city and she stares at the windmills too like Rick did. She comes across a booth called Benjiro’s Portrait, and recognizes the drawing style as the ones that she found on the cell phones. He remembered her, said she is Michonne and the girl is Judith, he couldn’t ever get the boy right for him, but he would come every 3 months and ask for another one, he tells her that Rick always knew he was going to see her again and got these until he did, this gives Michonne some hope that she was losing. He also says Rick didn’t talk for three years and she is more open then he is.
Thorne isn’t sure about Michonne and takes her and Rick to the stadium rubble to get some answers, she then says that she is going to go with them to help setup a base, which is rare for a consignee to go. They all head to Cascadia Ford Operating base which used to be a University that they have transformed to a base in the hills, around Colorado I presume. She said it takes them five jump points to get supplies to be able to make the trip for fuel. They are putting this together as a place to protect the CRM and an Intel point along the west coast. I think it’s really so they can mobilize to destroy Portland at a moments notice if needed where Portland couldn’t have time to defend itself. In a few days all the CRM heavy players are going to meet there for a summit, they just need to clear the area. Thorne tries to play point with a noise machine that will redirect some walkers but she can’t do it and Michonne disobeys orders and pushes the machine through, until Rick comes to help push it to it’s designated point. They end up completing the mission but Thorne isn’t happy.

She tells Rick he gets crap duty for now for going rogue, and that he has to escort Michonne back to Philadelphia. Jadis is there, and this is her new home and Michonne sees her and wonders what is going on. Rick tells her not now, and that she needs to listen to him, that things have changed, he belongs there, what they had was broken and doesn’t work anymore. Michonne is having none of it though, and in the helicopter ride on the way back she grabs Rick and makes them both jump out of the helicopter into the water.
