The award-winning comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000™ has captured the hearts of fans for over 35 years. Known for its witty commentary on cheesy movies, MST3K™ has become a cult TV show with a dedicated fan base called MSTies. MSTies are passionate supporters of the show who have been with it since the beginning and continue to show their love and support.
To celebrate this momentous milestone, series creator Joel Hodgson has announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign to create Season 14 of the beloved comedy series. This campaign provides an opportunity for fans to contribute and be a part of the show’s continued success. With an initial goal of $4.8 million, the campaign aims to fund six new feature-length episodes, six new shorts, and 18 surgically enhanced classic episodes. The surgically enhanced episodes will receive visual upgrades to 1080p from the original 480p, enhancing the viewing experience for fans. Additionally, the campaign will further develop the Gizmoplex, an in-world “online theater” and community hub for MST3K fans. The Gizmoplex will be a place where fans can come together, interact with each other, and engage in exclusive content related to the show.
The success of the campaign will determine the extent of the next season, with stretch goals set at $6.1 million for nine new episodes and $7.4 million for 12 new episodes. These stretch goals provide an exciting opportunity for fans to unlock additional content and ensure a more extensive season for everyone to enjoy.
This crowdfunding campaign marks the debut of MST3K‘s new in-house platform, The Showmaker, powered by Crowdfundr. The Showmaker is an innovative platform that will revolutionize the way the show is funded and produced. It will serve as the central hub for future campaigns to fund each new season of the series, allowing fans to have a direct impact on the show’s future.

Seeking a new home that would allow fans, known as MSTies, to have a say in the show’s future, Joel Hodgson launched the Gizmoplex in 2022.
