During Final Fantasy XIV’s Fanfest, there was the announcement of the next expansion. This article will explain everything that we currently know about what’s coming in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
What Will Dawntrail Be About?
The 7.0 Expansion is going to be “the very best summer vacation a hero could possibly have”, as described by Yoshida during the keynote presentations. It will be quite the shift from the previous expansions, instead focusing in a vacation filled with sea, sand, and treasures to find. Yoshida has described this expansion as being the “first step” into a new story of Final Fantasy XIV, with this one focusing on “journey and discovery”.
The Warrior of Light will be journeying across the Indigo Deep into a tropical new setting alongside some familiar faces, both old and new. During the keynote, a slide explained that you (The Warrior of Light) are sought out to help decide the next ruler of Tural, the tropical new world location. West of Eorzea, the cities here live in harmony with nature. Players are bound to discover many new opportunities here waiting for them.

The Graphical Update
Alongside the new expansion, there will be a huge graphical update. There have been various changes shown in multiple videos during the keynote. The aim is to have an appeal screen-wide as opposed to just characters, so will effect everything in the game. It will also include higher resolution textures and shadows for immersion.
What Else Comes With Dawntrail?
There are going to be many more features that come with this expansion. A few of these include:
- Two new jobs. Both DPS, one has been announced as melee while the other is caster. The clue given to players was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – with many players theorizing what this hint could mean.
- The level cap will increase from Level 90 to Level 100. And with many new dungeons, trials, and raids, it will be a good time to get your gear ready!
- A new beast tribe, the Pelupelu. This tribe is known for wearing distinct masks and traveling on alpacas.
- More personalized fashion, through features such as items having two dye slots and eyeglasses being separate from hats.
- More Hildibrand adventures, following on from the weapon quests.
- A Free Trial Extension, meaning new players will be able to also have access to Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. This will be accessible to new players before the full release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
Players will also be able to access the game on XBox, and it is set to be released on Series X/S.
When Will Dawntrail Be Released?
Currently, Dawntrail is set to be released in the summer of 2024. Final Fantasy XIV will be released at the same time for Xbox, so players will still be able to access the full experience. However if you are behind on your Main Story Quests, now might be the time to catch up – as the newest expansion will only be accessible to those that have already finished Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.
